I checked myself, madVR works slightly better than mpv in a side-by-side comparison on approximately equal settings (in terms of hardware load). Not a lot better though.
I rented a MacBook from my school to see how I like it. Not too bad so far. Daily driver is an X220.

Bookmarks require the keyboard though, unless you have an ugly bookmark bar. I used to be able to press the first letter to a site and hit enter in the url bar, but firefox changed it, and now instead of auto-completing with my most visited site that starts with that letter, it wants to do a google search, so I have to manually click on, or type out the address to a site.

I know they don't need the .exe extension but I do need the ability to differentiate. a shortcut to a .exe file is not the same as a .exe file itself. This is why things like steam icons sometimes fail if users can't get to games and shit because the steam icon is literally a reference shortcut to open steam and launch the specific game.
What you really can do is go to the c:\program files... steamapps\games and shit to get the real .exe which will launch the game separately
