Alright /g/ents, I have a Lenovo y50 that I bought for uni and to play games on the road. It's great but the battery life is shit. I get maybe 3 hours, 4 if I cut it's performance dramatically.
I want something light like a macbook air but I'm worried if I get one, I'll get stuck with a piece of aluminum that has an apple sticker on it. What does /g/ recommend for a quality ultrabook?
The new Macbook is actually lighter than the Air, and it feels pretty good from the examples I've used. You're really not going to get good gaming performance out of an actually portable laptop, though. I don't think you actually need to play games on the go, and would suggest buying something small and light that's actually pleasant to use. A lot of chromebooks are actually very good laptops at a cheap price—though you'll struggle to use Microsoft applications on GNU/Linux.

I was honestly thinking about the "New" Macbook and run some different OS's on it. I don't want a chrome OS device (used them a while ago at work, and I didn't like the environment) I dual boot Windows 10 and Mint on my desktop. I just feel that the next macbook will make the current one look even more like shit.

There's literally no reason to buy the 2015 Macbook.
> 1 port
> performs worse than Macbook Air
> costs as much as Macbook Pro
> worst keyboard ever made

No yeah don't use ChromeOS. You can get a Chromebook without paying for the OEM license, is all, and install a Linux on it (or use crouton for ez mode)
If I had a larger budget I'd 100% use Linux on whatever the newest macbook is, though.
Use powersaver in throttlestop and use the Intel graphics. I van get around 5 hours like that.

Get 1080p i5 xps 13 for that sweet 15+ hour battery life

Just buy a macbook air or a chromebook if you're not doing anything that requires more than a word processor and an internet browser, normie.
