I thought /g/ said Thinkpads are very good with Linux. Thanks a lot /g/.

Thats why you buy Apple™ MBP™ with OS X™ with El Capitan™

Sometimes I think about it. Getting tired of troubleshooting things for hours in my underwear.
On my T400 running xubuntu, closing the lid will sometimes result in a black screen. The backlight is on. However, the desktop is black. ctrl-alt-f1 brings up a terminal just fine.
Does this sound like a similar problem?

Ctrl+alt+backspace resets it at a cost of closing everything. Key bind disabled in Ubuntu these days but still works in Linux Mint.

Yes that works for me but now I avoid suspending because it ACPI is too complicated for Linux.

T410 with nvidia. Happens to me.

What are you talking about!?!?
Linux is perfect!
It never goes wrong. You certainly never have to pop a command line to fix things!
Nuh-uh!
NEVER HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!

Not our fault you're too stupid to work out your config. /thread

xorg has nothing to do with what your laptop does when turned off, use acpid and pm-utils. also, stay away from proprietary drivers.
>>52377843
this. learn how your computer actually works before complaining that it's not working properly.

Something that Linux has NEVER done.

What distro are you using? I don't have these problems with Lubuntu on my X201t or T60p.
>>52377903
Not our fault you have literally no idea what you're doing. Go back to Windows if you so desperately want your walled garden echo chamber of PREMIUM ENTERPRISE SOFTWARE.

Why do we have to spoonfeed this retard who thinks X-org is a display manager?
He'll go back to windows in a few days and brag about how he used linux himself and is able to tell "linux suckzz" like one of these:

quit using some edgy autistic os and use something like debian or ubuntu

On my ASUS notebook closing the lid works perfectly, no crashes or bugs, although im using nvidia proprietary drivers

It manages displays, doesn't it? What do you think it is?
>>52380703
It's technically a display server.
