All to correctly power my 32Ω DT880s which I bought by mistake

My Galaxy S5's charging port broke, so I cut the charger in half, cut out the data cables and stripped back the rubber coating on the + and - cables. Everytime I need to charge it I take the + and - wires and put them in my phone between the battery and the battery contacts.

Charges normally but when the wires short a jarring noise comes out of the speaker and i'm afraid to go to sleep/leave the house when it charges. Also, no notifications while charging kinda sucks. I really need to figure out what a new USB port costs.

I'd post pics if I was at home, but I stacked some wood on my desk to put my laptop on and put an Intel fan underneath to keep it cool.
Could just get a cheap cooler pad but fuck it, that Intel fan blows more air than those cheap coolers anyways and it's pretty silent.

Stopped now but when I used my Xbox one:
It only had audio over hdmi or optical
Used computer monitor with no speakers
Only had computer speakers with normal 3.5mm jack
Xbox optical out - > digital to analog converter box - > It's rca out so another converter to make it 3.5mm then yet another to make it female instead of male so I could plug speakers in

Ended up costing like 70 bux at RadioShack so I could have just bought compatible speakers but I'm stubborn I guedd

I actually sort of nigrigged hardware and software in my gaymen laptop. Short greentext
>dog pees on my $3000 gaymen laptop while I'm sleeping and laptop is on
>wake up 3 hours later to its apparent death
>left it drying during the night and it worked again except leds were dead and so the keyboard and touchpad
>gpu fan no longer spins if it's not in constant use
So what I did was obviously plug an external keyboard and mouse, but the GPU problem was more serious; my solution was to make the X server use it when the graphical interface is running instead of the integrated Intel card. It makes the battery go away like a fucker but at least it werks and doesn't overheats.

>>
>>52377208
Does this cause any heat issues?
>>
>>52377359
None
My PSU is only 250W, so even if I throw away the fan nothing would happen, but I added a regulator just so that I can control it if the temp rises too much. It's winter right now so temperatures are low as it is, but I might have to rev up the fan speed in summer

>>52378079
It's connected to a UPS anyway, if it fucks up the UPS will just blow a fuse

I initially tried to run it without the fan, reasoning that the older more powerful adapter for the 360 fat didn't need one.
And then the 360 turned off when i had a 400 note streak going on One and i was just getting into my zone and when i touched the PSU it was so hot the plastic case was malleable.

So, yeah. My extremely old custom made USB fan (used for many things in the past, like keeping a PS3 fat from overheating) gains another use.
Fucking love this thing.

My switch.
I got it for $8 at a used PC store, pretty good for a gigabit managed switch.
The stock fans were 40mm which has a really shitty airflow to annoyance ratio, and they're 5v so that limits my options for replacing them. So I just took the top case off and put a big fan over it. Runs pretty much silent since it's a 12v fan running on 5v.

The switch itself is really weird. The switch chips are Vitesse-made, and the firmware is Vitesse branded. The hardware also supports 2x5Gbit stacking ports. But the switch itself is rebranded by Ruby networks, and the stacking ports aren't actually accessible from the outside. The strange part? The firmware had other switches configured in the stack when I got it.
>>
>>52378544
Yeah, it is. It's what I use it for. Got it from an old car, so it needs 12V which is why I rigged it to an old psu

Some magnetic field does inevitably slip outside the housing, but it's not powerful enough to damage a HDD. (If fans emitted enough EMI to kill a HDD at 3 feet, then they would've also destroyed all floppy disks in a 50 feet radius)

I have a bent AC adapter and a dead battery on my laptop, I had to tape the adapter in one exact position for the shit to even start. One slight bump and the whole lelptop goes off. Sometimes it dies even while I'm typing vigorously. Wonder how much my SSD suffers from all of this.

I just wanted to look cool on /g/, it doesn't actually work... yet

The cable connecting the screen to the controller board was a bit dodgy but I've ordered another one.
The tracking works alright though and the screen did seem to look ok.
The tracker works well though, it's a spark fun pro micro with a MPU6050 6DOF, I even got it outputting as mouse output so I can play pretty much any game with it, I just use VIREIO to split the output for each eye and I'm good

I plan to purchase a STFM32f4 discovery board because someone has written firmware for that that makes it register as a DK1

>modem/router combo has shitty WiFi range.
>use old circa 2007 40 meters Ethernet cable from modem through the ceiling to my router.
>cut a small corner of an individual cell to drop the Ethernet cable.
>router used to be right under the drop but I decided to move it.
>instead of cutting another hole I decide to run the Ethernet to the router using nail clamps and zip ties.

But that's not all...
>only 1 ac power outlet in my room just beside where the bed is.
> run extension cord through the same clamps and zip ties
> now I need internet to my computer so use another Ethernet from router to computer using the same clamps and zip ties.
But wait there's more !
>decide to move computer behind me from where pic related was taken.
>run another extension cord under my bed to power my computer.
>instead of relocating the old Ethernet cable from router to computer I decide to run a new line since taking the old implies re doing the clamps and zip ties for the other 2 cables.
And this is where I trigger you all

Without getting the fan more air tight against the case, its probably better as intake. Plus those fans are designed to just push air as an intake, i doubt that fan has worthwhile suction from behind relative to its size. (For sucking air out)

I find now that my temps are much better with mostly intakes and one exaust (rear), even both top slots were changed to intake recently (inb4 heat rises, i know this) and temps dropped significantly. I think the positive pressure is better, but have dust filters.

I don't run a home server. I don't ssh into my home computer. I don't transfer file on my home network.

So yeah, it works flawlessly for me

I use my old phone as a camera too, but it's duct taped to my monitor, hue

I work in a research and development lab, and I feel like pretty much everything is nigrigged. From our prototypes to our hardware to our network configuration.

I was telling a sysadmin friend of mine about something my team nigrigged onto the network, and he didn't believe me because no sane sysadmin would let his users do that. Turns out we don't even have one.

Actually, those kinds of fans are more than enough to slowly start to affect the hard drive over time, when it's at 2 feet or closer.

That, or most of my clients have been lying about how close their fans are to the drives and have actually had it right next to the damned things.

Regardless, as long as you keep the back-end of the fans a reasonable distance from drives, you should be fine. I'd personally feel a little better putting the fan at least 6 more inches away from the case than >>52373020 has placed, the amount of air going in should still be enough.

Only had 2 monitors, one was vga only, the other had vga/dvi. Had my tower, 360, and stb hooked up. Fucking dumbass cable tech told me I wouldn't be able to use the stb with a monitor.

HDMI to dvi to vga for the stb. Then the rca audio to 3.5 headphone jack to the microphone jack on the back of the tower. 360 had to buy the vga adapter which also had rca audio so another 3.5 adapter to the front mic input. Then got the mic inputs to play through shitty USb speakers.

Tower always had a dedicated monitor and the xbox/cable shared one.

Dat Blue Yeti.

I've been planning on getting a boom for mine, but the good ones require about $100 for something strong enough to hold the Yeti's girth.
