Maybe Ubuntu server and because Debian has retarded package maintenance. Whenever I need a package for some reason it's ALWAYS out of date, even on Testing. It's a home server so I don't need
>muh stability
I just need something that will let me do whatever it is I want to do.

Ubuntu's repos are based on Debian's. They aren't a copy of Debian Testing.
And no, there are plenty of differences in distros. Technically you can rework one into another, but it's not practical.

I just installed Debian on a home server I'll be running Plex on. How the fuck do I install Plex? This is my first time using not-Windows so please forgive me, but I'm trying to follow their installation guide, and I keep getting "no such file or directory" when I enter the line they told me to enter.

I use Debian on everything too:
-home server
-4 work pcs
-home pc
-netbook

All running Debian testing + mate (except home server) because I can't be bothered getting used to another distro.
>>
>>52367359
Ubuntu is too fucking bloated.
I prefer to start from scratch on a base install of Debian. That way, I know what is actually on my system.
>>
>>52369189
Stable == stability of package management, not system.

If you have new-ish hardware (<2 years), recent kernel releases might make a significant difference.
