¡Viva el Vive!

You can't get any one of them yet, they haven't been reviewed yet. Keep your money.
>>
>>52350751
Neither.

Both are going to be shitty first generation products that isn't really ready for consumers. The hype surrounding them is huge and it's just not worth it.
>>
>>52350751
Too early to decide
Vive isn't out yet and Oculus Touch isn't either
>>
>>52350751
Wait and see how it plays out. Make sure that you try both in person before committing to either.

The amount of factors that depend on your physiology are too high.
>>
When do you want it and what do you want to pay? OR is more for proprietary practices and capitalistic fund raising. Most new tech needs a strong economic marketplace to live. Vive is probably going to be cheaper and is closer to open practices it's rumoured.

Also do you hate Facebook? They will no doubt try to data mine.

What open hardware options are there for vr?

Vive is going to be like $800

Pretty confident this will never happen. If it does it won't be in our lifetime.

depends on how much you want to spend for 1st gen vr
>>
The Vive is has better hardware and will ship with actual motion controllers. The Rift was rushed out the door to beat the Vive and leaves you with an Xbox controller instead. Unless you're impatient, there's no reason to buy the Rift. Following Oculus' own logic, you should pay a couple hundred dollars extra for a complete VR experience, and the Rift doesn't have that. So even if the Vive is a bit more expensive, it should be worth it according to Oculus.

augmented reality headsets like hololens from microsoft is the first thing which will get mankind used to add-ons in their daily use.

the future is provided by nano technology and the first step is to make it interfere with your body and to make people used to the thought of having advanced possibilities with just a chip under your skin.

which is already is in practice by the way

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/5439055/ns/technology_and_science-tech_and_gadgets/t/microchips-implanted-mexican-officials/

things said, it will require alot of years, that's to be sure.

to see the first step is to simulate sight and hearing via external measurings in a commercial available way

I'm never buying an HTC product again after owning one of their mobile phones. Worst piece of electronic junk I've had.

If they're VR is anything like their phones, it'll have a random screamer pre-installed, be manufactured out of weapons-grade Chinesium, and the LCD will explode and throw shrapnel into your eyes while simultaneously giving you and epileptic siezure.

rift cv1 has a clear advantage in optics against vive pre
vive pre has clear advantage in positional tracking against oculus touch prototypes
rift cv1 reportedly great audio is better than non-existant vive one
analists still think vive will be more expensive
rift cv1 has a concrete release date

this generation, oculus has a clear advantage, it won't even be a competition, it'll be a massacre.

Vive: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/valve-and-htc-reveal-vive-vr-headset/1100-6425606/
1200x1800

Rift: http://www.wareable.com/oculus-rift/how-oculus-rift-works

That and Rift says they are using DSLR quality glass.

please learn to read sources before using them

If the VIVE comes with the controllers and is priced the same as Oculus I will buy that over the Oculus

I think the NEETgear occurs in 2021 iirc syncs up pretty well with the GiTS universe too unironically enough

>>
>>52352522
>HTC Vive
it's 1080x1200 per eye
>>
>>52352522
No, they are both the same resolution.

There are two screens that are both 1080x1200, but the images are basically duplicates so that each eye sees from a slightly different perspective. In the end it is basically 1080x1200 after it is put together.

in Europe it's 699 euros which is the same as
4-5 days of work without overtime.

I'll most likely get both just to let my friends test them and then buy what they like the most.
>>
>>52354208
I work ~20 days a month for a ~2K€ income (1K€ more with overtime).
More like 2 weeks of work for me, so it's a pretty big invest.
>>
vive = 4chan
oculus = reddit
>>
>>52352522

As somebody who got to try the Vive at CES, the resolution is still pretty bad. When compared to a 1080p desktop monitor is abysmal.

>>52354919
I was going off the sources he provided
the point is, he was wrong
>>
>>52354962

Yeah yeah yeah, but still you're both squabbling over a moot point, the resolution is shit on both of them.
>>
>>52354919
that not really a fair comparison though, Try sitting 4 inches from said monitor.
>>
>>52355004

I feel like it is fair, since it's the second most influential reason that I will not be buying first generation VR
>>

Vive Pre looks pretty sweet
Got a bit of a cyberpunk feel
>>
Question:
Should i even bother getting a new monitor or should i wait for the vive and presumably emulate an entire desktop?
>>
>>52351180
They've relegated him to the gear vr anyway.
>>

oculus = /a/, /g/ and /b/
vive = /v/
>>
>>52356020
Boards have nothing to do with this.
>>
>>52355905

You wouldn't want to use VR as a desktop display.
>>
>>52354892
That's some pretty autistic shit, but to be fair, they are getting a free $600 headset.
>>

Vive is HTC chink shit, it'll probably explode in your face after a few hours of use
>>

Vive is going to be 100 to 300 euro more expensive idiot.

Writing a thank you card or letter in response to an act of kindness is one thing.
Writing an online, public thank you essay to a company who are out to make money off you and are never going to read it is another.
