DX right now is windows 10 only. but the idea that you will be forced to use it to play pc games is a stretch to say the least. think back to previous versions of DX and how they played out. the same thing will likely happen. there may be a few games that get bribed by MS to have windows 10 exclusivity through DX 12, but that vast majority of games will just have it as an option, if they have it at all. and even in those cases enabling it isn't going to transform the game, it might just make it a bit shinier or change the performance. just think of how many modern games still get by on DX 9.
personally if I have to switch I'm going to hold out as long as I can and then switch to enterprise for games only, de-botnetted to the best of my ability. meanwhile I'm going to stick with windows 7 and experiment with other OSs on my other machines to find a new good home.
