Ethernet is not obsolete. We use it on desktops and non-mobile devices. If you're a network technician going house to house and carry a laptop for troubleshooting then obviously you won't get a laptop without a ethernet. But then again you won't be the target demographic.

Getting the right output for your graphics card/monitor is a choice you can easily make. An adapter if you can't afford to upgrade your monitor is a reasonable solution, your computer is moderately stationary, the adapter may be temporary, you possibly could have chosen the same type of graphics card with the output you needed.
Thing is that VGA can't drive higher resolutions that DVI/HDMI/Displayport can, so unless you are planning to keep the card until you upgrade your monitor, picking a card that has no VGA is pretty much picking something that is overkill for what your monitor can display.

Ever since USB drives reached 8GB for $15 so so, there's been zero reason to burn ISOs as opposed to just keeping a dedicated drive just for OS installs. No ethernet is utterly retarded though.
