What makes mpv better than MPC-HC with madVR?
The answer better not be because mpv is open source.

Because I feel like I'm actually in control of my viewing when editing the config files.
MPC-HC/madVr can offer similar quality experience but they feel limited in their configuration due to the nature of GUI interface.

I use mpv just for vo=opengl:deband because whilst I don't watch cartoons something I watch a lot of youtube a downloaded and the dark areas have real bad blocking, deband fixes this and makes it look awesome.
I only used stock mpc-hc, I am not an anime watcher which mpv seems to cater for but if I could have mpc-hc do just deband I would go right back to it.
cons for mpv for me is: no real installer or autoupdater but not that much of an issue, my main issue is on non-dark videos I tell no difference between mpv and mpc-hc but mpv even with hwcel dxva2-copy uses 20% cpu whereas mpc-hc dxva2 native uses 4%.
tl;dr: If you can tell me how to easily have mpv deband in mpc I stop using it ever again thank you.

I'm new to mpv and searching for mpc-hc deband on google is not useful, I was expecting to find a shader or something to add.

Madshi died last year. A dumbass fan just hacked his private repository and tried to improve madvr once a month. But it seems he can not code like him.
