OP here, I am on the look out for a new monitor, currently I have one 27inch primary display 1920x1080 and a secondary 24inch 1080 monitor. I mainly use two for animation, reference and the graph editor on my secondary. Then I game on just the primary.
I am looking into either an ultra wide or a single curved display. Resolution & refresh rate are not my primary concern as I am looking for productivity over gaming, but something with decent gaming potential would also be nice.
I am just curious what people prefer, in both productivity and gaming.

Is this a meme opinion or the general consensus? I know curved seems to be considered a "fad" like 3D. I think my issue with multiple monitors is because of the kind of work I do I have to really twist my head to make sure I am looking at reference dead on rather than using my peripheral vision. On one ultra wide it would be a much smaller action to ease neck strain. That and the graph editor could span the entire bottom section of the monitor and have the information I need right there without having to shift my focus about.

Hmm maybe having both setups would be a compromise. I do like my multi monitor set up, just fancy a change in honesty, hell maybe adding another 24inch to make a 3 monitor set up would be a good move forward for productivity. Keep my gaming as is.

Ultrawide + 1080p in portrait mode is based.
I have an ultrawide and a smaller 16:9 next to it. The ultrawide is pretty amazing, especially for games. Getting part of your peripheral vision in the game really helps immersion.

Productivity wise the graph editor works much better landscape but that does look very nice, I get one ultra wide is more aimed at gaming but due to the landscape nature of the graph editor having it span the entire bottom of the monitor would be super handy. Could maybe have the best of both, rid myself of of the 24inch, use one ultra wide plus 27" as a secondary. That way I get the best of both.
How is game compatibility in regards to 3440x1440 monitors?
I would imagine every decent port made in the last five years have native support for it.
I am having a 21:9 3440x1440 and i damn love it. Games are just amazing (not PVP games..).

I have a strong urge to swap over to my 24" 1080p screen when I play things like CS:GO or LoL, but for anything else, it's worth the extra visual coverage. There's definitely a big wow-factor when you see that high-texture FPS with a big FOV, or the MMO where you can dump the UI components off to the side and appreciate the visuals.

3x 1080p or 1440p Monitors... Ultrawide's are only good for movies (lol) because they run 21:9 and get rid of the shitty black "cinematic" bars the niggers put in.
If you get some with no bezels or minuscule, it's also like you have an ultrawide anyways.
