Do you use antivirus on your Windows/Linux/Mac os?
nope
I have Malwarebytes for whenever I do fuck up
I just use common sense and run a Malwarebytes scan every week.

avast but it just sits there and malwarebytes picks up anything that I get

I pirate it

But not scan it?
Do you think Malwarebytes is sufficient?
>>52320626
I don't use operating systems that commonly targeted for viruses so I have a small security through obscurity factor, and I'm also not dumb enough to click things like paris_hilton_sex_tape.wmv.exe
>>52320294
No, I am not one of these people

Avast / Windows 10

Nigga avast has active protection, it catches shit before it infects your PC. Fucking MWB
>>52320987
Isn't Avast shit-tier?
Huge false positive score rates etc
Why not use Kaspersky or Bitdefender?
>>52320294
yes
clamav and lmd.
coupled with OSSEC and SNORT
>>52320673
Not if SteamOS become the new iOS.
>>52321171
Why?
>>52321432
Besdies the fact that it probably won't happen, much as I'd like it to, SteamOS is a debian fork, so if SteamOS becomes a juicy target for attackers, they'll probably output a hoard of new malware specifically targetting end-user linux boxes.
Not like that'll actually matter. Linux is still a million times more secure than Windows even disregarding security through obscurity, contrary to what the shills will tell you.

Dr Web Antivirus
Why'd I use antivirus on FreeBSD?
>>52324811

No virus scanner has a 100% detection ratio.
If you don't trust a download, don't open it.

Brain
It's a mix of hardware and software. The only pre-installed shit that is good desu senpai
Although i use common sense, my PC has enough resources so i keep a light antivirus (pic related). It's been years since i got a virus but there's still sometimes where it blocks adware in program setups
https://yandex.com/promo/manul/#about
What do you think of that AV?
the only AV i need is JAV
is there a need/reason for antivirus on GNU\Linux? If there is, what is the best?
>>52320294
No, I just do a Malwarebytes scan every now and then. ABP and Ghostery in my browser. Don't install janky software.
>>52320294
No.
Yeah i use clamav to scan external usb drives after they had been plugged to a windows machine.
I just realized that windows is the software equivalent of a black female from an american nigger ghetto.
>>52327084
clamav is the only foss av i know of.
it never hurts to have an av and it doesn't run in the background.
It has limited uses, it was never designed to run a windows style real-time protection.
But hey it's included on os x server by default, so it has to have at least a little bit of quality to it.
a decent firewall is good enough for me.
>>52327104
>ABP
>Ghostery
>Don´t install janky software
>>52325343
i was also going to say that but, when you download a torrent that has been up for months, the AV would actually help a lot in stopping known malware.

Oh, I forgot, /g/ is the /mu/ of software.

AV cant save you from REAL threats so whats the point, i already use common sense for 'normal' viruses

last time i used kaspersky on windows 10 my nonpaged pool shot up and ate almost all of my 12 GB ram and my already running programs were not happy about this.

While pirating feel free to ignore any positive claim
or better yet create a whitelist
be aware that the jewish NSA will know what you have there thx to MUH CLOUD features
ClamAV respects your privacy and is a fork from Linux avail. for NSA/Client Windows Bot.NET

Eh, I can deal with false positives.
It's the false negatives that you really need to worry about. I like a vast. Sometimes it gets pissy and I have to set up exceptions for certain things I've downloaded but other than that I've never had problems and when I do duck up it has my back immediately.
>>52326489
It's for Web admins
>>52329183
its part of the solution for protecting yourself from a vast majority of threats along with os hardening and educated users (you)
i have pirated photoshop cc2015 and final cut pro x, didn't have any problems so far
what is the truth? does os x need a virus? how does running programs inside sandboxes make it more secure?
>>52320294
Avast is shit, I have never seen such a popup invader as that one
>>52329380
ClamAV has a shit detection rate though
>>52331126
guess you havent used Avira
>>52331175
Avira was cool when I was able to block the execution of their pop up bullshit
I use an antivirus that has never failed me once, it's called "Don't pirate shit, click suspicious links, or download shit you don't trust."

>>52331357
security through obscurity sounds better
>>52327084
antivirus software is available that runs natively on linux slash gahnoo.
It's for email servers (to protect windows clients), but it can also scan wine folders.
>>52331417
security through obscurity is when the code is obscured. As in closed source.
> wiki it.
i run malwarebytes once every few months. but i've easily gone a year without running it at all. i never get viruses.
