Oh look, this fag is back again.

Yeah this is quite literally the same resouces used in ChromeOS built on Android.

All of it is a rip from ChromiumOS via the Chromium Projects.

Either get ChromeOS and have a gentoo machine.
Get Papyros and have an Arch Machine.
Or get Gallium and have an Xubuntu machine.

Android != suitable for desktop/laptop (not in the sense that the operating system cant, but the market for android should stay as phones and tablets)

I've played around with Remix OS. It's ok. You can run Android apps in windows and resize them, drag them around your desktop. Nothing to write home about.

It's still better than ChromeOS, which is so gimped you can hardly do anything besides load up browser versions of Google services.

>Android is very different from the GNU/Linux operating system because it contains very little of GNU. Indeed, just about the only component in common between Android and GNU/Linux is Linux, the kernel. People who erroneously think “Linux” refers to the entire GNU/Linux combination get tied in knots by these facts, and make paradoxical statements such as “Android contains Linux, but it isn't Linux.”(*) Absent this confusion, the situation is simple: Android contains Linux, but not GNU; thus, Android and GNU/Linux are mostly different, because all they have in common is Linux.
https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/android-and-users-freedom.en.html
>>
>>52311215
at least theyre not a tablet operating system pretending to be a full desktop OS that people will run on i7's

chromeOS did what it needed to do, its a netbook operating system for normies build on gentoo, you can dig into it and flush it out more if you like to get a full linux experience, but for 99% of users stock chrome is enough

remix however is essentially a clone, like gallium, papyros, chromixium, etc but theyre advertising it
thats it, its just an advertised fork and its portrayed as "Revolutionary" even though its android with the same WM and DE that chromeOS uses.
>>
>>52311334
Someone made Android usable on a pc. That's a pretty big deal. People have asked Google for that for years. Also, Chrome OS is garbage compared to Android in every way except security and usability on a pc.

Also, what's up with these requirements?
>A USB 3.0 flash drive that supports FAT32 format, with a minimum capacity of 8GB and a recommended writing speed of 20MB/s.
Why do you need 8gb? There are plenty of normal sized linux distros that you can install on a 4gb drive for installation. You can make a windows boot drive from a 4gb drive.
>>
>>52310940
Free -> botnet os
>>
this is literally a meme OS
>>
>>52313289
If you even own any 4 GB flash drives, you should just toss them. They're probably slow as shit and will run out of read/write cycles and start to fail soon anyway.
>>
>>52313353
4bh flash drives are like a buck. their perfect for installing OSes,not for storage though
>>
>>52313512
I think they are expecting you to install and run apps off the USB drive as well. So you would have almost no space for apps with a 4 gb USB drive.
>>

Android is linux.
The major differences stem from the alterations in the base kernel and the addition of the Dalvik on any version under 5.0 and ART on later versions.
And it uses its own compilers as oposed to the GNU tools.

hm, it's better than Chrome OS, but certainly less functional than OSX or Windows. Might be a good choice for a cheap chromebook, but it will be interesting to see if Android apps will work fluidly in a mouse environment as opposed to touch.

Android apps almost universally suck but Google Play has good variety, so that's really the main breath of life for this thing. Because if the apps don't work good, Linux/GNU + Gnome will be superior.
