Running CM 12.1 on Asus ZF2 and was having an issue with gpsd and Google Play Services battery drain, used an app called GFix from the playstore to fix it and it did, but now I'm getting a huge battery drain from Android OS, and it never did this before.
I deleted all apps I thought would have been troublesome, but it still persists, what could be causing it?

Reposting in new thread

Came home from work last night and tried turning on my rig, nothing. Check cables and outlet, nothing. Checked switches and voltage. Switch out PSU cord, nothing.

I remember I have extra PSUs for this reason and remove the mobo completely from the case leaving only the CPU/CPU fan in. Plug in both PSUs and trip the power switch. Nothing.

Just for shits I check all of the PSUs to make sure they weren't fucked.

Emailed Gigabyte's RMA last night. I'm sure it's the mobo. Am I an idiot and did I forget anything?

In the last thread, I asked how to solve an overheating problem with my CPU.
I went out, I bought thermal paste, and now the idle temps have dropped 20°C, which is great.

The issue now is that the same problem is happening with my GPU.
You can see the idle temp is over 60°C, but that's not the end of it.
If I booth any graphics intensive game (used Fallout 4 to test it now), the temperature spikes to 99+°C in a matter of less than five minutes, and remains there until I turn the game off.

Of course the GPU fans spin loud enough to make the computer feel like it's going to take off.

What should I do? Should I replace the GPU thermal paste too? I've bought it two years ago and never opened it, the stock paste should be still holding up fine, yet it's acting like this.

you need to set it as global function manually.

besides, using onclick= is bad practice anyway, use addeventlistener.

Should a PSU be getting loud enough to hear when playing a modern game?
>>
>>52291122
no.
>>
>>52291136
why would it do that in the case it was noisy?
I'm not talking some clanking or coil whine but just a constant noise
>>
>>52291151
I mean when it's not doing anything or doing a low yield task I can't even hear it. Then I boot up something like MGSV or Mad Max and I can hear it. Older games it stays pretty much silent. It's a platinum 750 Watt psu by the way
>>
>>52291151
i cant say for sure seeing as i havent heard it but if its a constant sound then it could be a dying fan on the psu. if its not under waranty then i would take it apart and check to make sure that the fan is working properly.
>>
>>52290603
Um, excuse me, but what the fuck changed about your GPU? In the last thread, your CPU was the one with the temp problem and your GPU seemed fine. now that you've fixed your CPU temps your GPU temps are suddenly up? What?
>>
>>52291188
I bought it recently. It's a new unit
>>
>>52291220
if its under warranty i would call the manufacturer and request an RMA. it should be fairly easy companies typically dont like it when they send people dysfunctional stuff
>>
>>52291220
Additionally it only does this when I'm playing a modern game. Mad Max does it but the sound stops when it's on pause.
Older games like deus ex (even human revolution), ass creed games, age of empires don't suffer from it.

So is it simply not getting enough power somehow? My previous psu did the same thing before I replaced it but made the noise during idle sessions

I honestly have no idea.
Still, it's getting overly hot over stuff it shouldn't be having problems with, any fixes for GPU overheating?

Like mentioned, it's only 2 years old, should I take it apart and replace the thermal paste in there too?
99+C temperatures for 4 minutes of gameplay are way too high for a mid-high range card like a GTX760

What am I doing wrong?

result = True
index = 0
while index < 4:
if result == True:
result = False
else:
result = True
index += 2
print(result)

The final answer is "True".

Index 0 = False
Index 2 = True

Since it's still below 4, aren't you supposed to add +2 again? That would make it "False" again.
I'm just doubting, or is it never supposed to reach "4" in the first place?

I recently bought a used HIS 7950 IceQ Boost (pic related). It's working fine and the temperatures are low, but the fan gets pretty loud when I'm playing games. If anyone here has ever used this card (or another card with a similar IceQ fan), could you tell me if it's normally somewhat noisy at load? idk if it's more /g/ or /sci/ but whatever.

Would a book make a reasonably secure one-time-pad or am I missing something? Say I'm assigning every character a value equal to its position in the alphabet, blank spaces get a value of 27, commas get a value of 28, colons get a value of 29, and dots get a value of 30. For simplicity's sake, let's assume there's no other symbols in the book and that we're starting on page 1. My encrypted message is a sequence of numbers; the first number gets added to the numeric value of the first character in the book, the second number gets added to the numeric value of the second character, rinse and repeat. If you wind up with a value above 30, keep subtracting 30 until you wind up with a value between 1 and 30. The number you wind up with corresponds to the position of the character you want on the aforementioned extended alphabet.

If I'm being retarded, please tell me why you think I am. I'm just about wrapping up my first semester of university-level mathematics and consequently feel pretty confident about making the claim that I know fuck all about either mathematics or cryptography just yet.

you should be well within the recommend power draw for that. unless youve got an ass ton of peripheral devices. contact the manufacturer and do an RMA. it soulds like when you place strain on the components of your computer they start drawing more power. your psu starts getting warm from the power draw so the fan kicks into a higher gear and boom youve got your sound. either way you need to contact your manufacturer.

right now your sitting at around 500W draw under load.
do the math on the power draw in watts for all of your fans and anything not listed in the speccy. and add that to the 500W of your primary components. if it goes over 650W then you will need a larger psu.

Question to anyone using Foobra2000

I want to have a custom column that inserts the file directory name.
I have my music collection structured in the following way: >Drive/Music folder/Genre/Artist/album
I want the genre folder to be the only folder displayed.

If I use

it works fine, except for when there are additional subfolders, in which case it will insert the wrong one of course

the other one is like a wi-fi in a shoping mal, everybody can connect, but then you have login (of course with uni account) to use it outside of the university website, its mostly used for guests, but it is more used then the first on because students are too lazy to use the safe version

well, the IT guys recommend every semester that everybody should you use the first network because it is not encrypted, they say that other people could read all your activities

I'd recommend either learning some more C++ and then going through the various solutions equipped with the sort of knowledge that's gonna make it relatively easy to determine whether a given engine suits your needs and tastes or not or, even better, coding your own (2D stuff is realistically doable even for a beginner without a lot of mathematical experience). Even if it winds up being shit in the end you'll learn a ton in the process of putting it together which is going to make you an objectively better programmer - plus, it very well might be a lot of fun.

Other people might have different opinions on this subject though. It's a lot like handgun calibers; there's a few which are objectively unsuitable for anything other than fucking around at the range but beyond those you're best off ignoring the Sunni-Shi'ite-bullshit-tier cartridge cultists and just pick whatever the fuck you're comfortable with (or, in programming terms: stick to basic best practice, anything beyond depends on your personal tastes and situation).

Hello and thanks for reading, willing for help
I have my Intel Pentium G3460(Dual-Core, 3.5GHz) arriving tomorrow and not sure if I should install Windows 10 or Windows 7.
My 80GB HDD is sata2, and I'm playing my all games from my 1TB USB 3.0 HDD
Should I get Windows 10(I like it more) or Windows 7
Why I'm asking advice is I have 2 questions.
Will my sata2 HDD be okay with windows 10? Or with that HDD I should go windows 7 instead until I get newer one?
Will my CPU be okay with windows 10?
Or it's too weak or something?
Thanks in advance for help!

Any sysadmins here? Looking for advice.

I want to rent a dedicated server and use it to host a personal website. I also want to use it as off-site backup storage, ownCloud, audio/video streaming, game server maybe, VPN tunnel, basically anything.

So how do I go about it? I just sign up for some hosting company, get root access to an entire machine on one of their racks and then install the stuff I want to run? It seems simple and it feels like I'm overlooking stuff. For one, how do I make sure the server is secure and won't spontaneously turn into a CP botnet?

Picture somewhat related. I'm familiar with Linux, understand concepts listed in the senior class. I'm a programmer and I can automate things easily. Thing is I have no idea how to "manage services". I read a lot about security but I'd rather defer to the advice of more knowledgeable people in the area.

Hey /g/ I have an i5 4690k with a stock cooler. Speedfan shows me adequate temps for my cooling setup but every other program for measuring my temps shows my CPU temp to be 7-10 degrees hotter, meaning I idle at 45+ degrees and play counter strike at about 70. Who should I trust? Speedfan or realtemp/coretemp/speccy/hwmonitor?
Also how do I fix my melting MB.

/g/, it seems that I fucked up for good.
I just wanted to do good, I just wanted to make everything a little bit better.

I tried replacing the thermal paste of my 660ti and I thought that I did a decent job (thin layer, tried to put everything as precise as possible together, yaddayadda) but ever since my PC suddenly lags as shit when playing WoW for a few min, then 120fps again and after some time again. My sound interface also seem to stop working at the same time.
I recognized that it happens frequently when I play music in background and then switch from browser to game (which is windowed, but it happens in fullscreen too). The sound also seem to work again when I unplug the interface and plug it in again but only for a short time.
The gpu driver rarely crashes too.

Temps are ok, newest driver and i tried test the card with furmark but this doesn't seem to trigger this effect. I also tried to use different music player, same effect.

How bad did I fuck up anon? Do I need a new gpu?

Just DL Pale Moon bro.

If it tells you "durr plug in required" on the video, click the x and you'll be fine.

Good mic + great headphones.

You can still hear your chums with your headphones in game chat and can talk to them clearly with a standing mic.

The headsets that have both have to balance out the quality of the headphone audio and microphone components.

If you buy them separately, you get the best of both worlds

Oh I remember my first build.

The satisfaction, relief, and pride you feel when it works is amazing.

Relax anon. You're doing great.

Yep. Used some of it to homeschool my sons

Not really. I'd back that up though.

Try Mega.

4 is greater than 3.3 mate.

I'd go with the AMD.

You can auction-purchase some ThinkPads from ebay for 5-10 bucks.

Just snipe the auction last hour and you're guaranteed the ThinkPad.

That should hold you down for college.

If you want a pc for gaming, do the above and oversell them on Craigslist.

Should add up pretty quick.

By oversell, I mean make it seem like a god-teir laptop to the average normie.

"4 WHOLE GIGABYTES OF RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY. You'd be crazy not to get this."

Upsell, upsell, upsell.

You'd be surprised how clueless the average normie is when they hear jargon from th"rtechy guys".

Other then that, take this guy's >>52294485
advice. You can do what I said in the meantime.
