I want to get a backlit, ten key mechanical keyboard that's decent for shooters. Recs?

am i fucking up big if i buy a Steelseries 6gv2 as my first mechanical keyboard? Its either this or the quickfire rapid, but i cant find it in spanish layout

if you care about keycaps you better get an ansi board anyway.

you can get used to it quickly or remap it to spanish.

it's a custom made korean board, with cyrillic caps.

It totalled about 450$.

good question.

you don't get any better until you go past 200, and even then diminishing returns means you either are made of money, or there is nothing like this under 200 (see: topre)

my white blank hhkb came in the mail 2 hours ago.

I'm at work and literally containing my boner until I get home and can play with it.

To decide if I liked topre, I ordered a novatouch online, played with it 2 days, then returned it and got a full refund.

Forget everything about what you know about coolermaster, the novatouch is a quality board (and the pcb has Topre printed on it, they made it).

The Realforce is better for sure but so goddamn ugly with that huge bezel.

I was only conflicted between the fc660c and the hhkb.

None of them appeal to me. The only good Topre keyboards are the Realforce and the HHKB. Realforce looks like an alternative 80's keyboard and HHKB looks nice but has a tacky layout.

>>

>>
>>52292817
I'm using the HHKB right now and I have no complaints about the layout.

If you use the FN keys a lot, then you might see yourself wanting to get a novatouch or a realforce. I only use the arrow keys semi-frequently, so I have no problem doing away with those and simply using my pinky while having the rest of my right hand working the arrow cluster.

>>52292846
I play insurgency. It took me a day or so to get used to having the control key (gets used a lot for crouching or sliding) right above the shift key, but it's quite comfortable actually.

Topre's been around for a fair amount of time.

It's rather the fact that it has a rather high price of entry (except for the novatouch, which is actually quite new to the market) and is far less widespread than cherry switches which you can get on a 70 bucks keyboard.

It's a very high quality board, maybe not 170$ good but 120 for sure.

it's legit topre (I'm typing from an hhkb right now 10 days after a novatouch), people have opened them and the pcb is signed by Topre.

the only thing that is a bit off is the sound yes, but a good keycap set and some silencing pads can help a ton.

Switches are 100% subjective. It's what you like. Generally though, people that play games stick to reds, browns, or blues. I have a corsair k70 vengeance with blues. Reds were marketed as the gaymen switch but it really is subjective. Browns are a sort of middle ground between the two. They are tactile, but not as much as blues. Reds are linear, so they have no tactile bump.

tl;dr Get whatever switches you like. There's no "best" switch for doing X activity.
>>
>>52296229
I have a k70 vengeance because the RGB wasn't available with blues when I got my vengeance, but I love the thing. The wrist rest is nice and the windows key disable button is convenient. I'd imagine the RGB is similar in quality.

Left: Ducky Shine 2
Right: Corsair Strafe RGB

I was using red LEDs in this pic to show off how weak the LEDs are compared to my Shine 2. They're so bright on my Shine 2 that they actually hurt my eyes and my camera can't even pick it up properly. It's not a big deal because I don't really use LEDs, but I figure it's worth mentioning.

My biggest issue with the keyboard is that it feels completely different despite using the same keyswitch (Cherry MX blue). The keys on my Shine 2 have a very strong bounceback and feel very nice to depress. The Strafe RGB feels a lot less springy after I've pressed a key down and sounds completely different. Below is a sample of both keyboards:

http://vocaroo.com/i/s0LbuJAXTLby

In that vocaroo clip I wrote, "qwerty qwerty one two three", then backspaced a few times. The first keyboard I used is the Ducky Shine 2 and the second is the Corsair Strafe RGB. Honestly I prefer the way the Strafe RGB sounds but it just doesn't feel nearly as good as the Ducky Shine 2. Also I got shipped a unit where the "E" key sticks down (it's a cherry problem). It just feels leaps and bounds worse than the Shine 2.

I bought a Corsair K70 with Cherry MX blues. Absolutely loving it, I used to have Kailh Reds and to be honest I never really liked it that much. I love the tactile feel of blues, they make typing a joy. Fortunately I only have mild autism so I'm not bothered by the noise.

I thought about getting a tenkeyless model but I wanted the volume control wheel so I went with this full keyboard model. I kinda wanted blue backlights, but only this red model was available and I wasn't going to pay extra for RGB faggotry because I don't want to install any manufacturer bloatware to control the color.

Sure, but solidyear keyboards leds usually die much faster than other OEMs.

Some solidyear boards:
Rapid-i
Corsair K70/K90
G710+
Quickfire TK

Pretty much every board they make with blue/white leds have this issue.
