How outdated is an AM2 socket, completely confused. Was trying to update my 10 year old rig's AMD athlon 3800+ cpu but couldnt find any shops in my local area that sold am2 socket processors. Was hoping to get something greater than 2.5 ghz desu family

I switched to a 4790K and I won't lie, the performance difference is minimal, only real advantage is Mini ITX. If Zen has a Mini ITX option then I'm switching back to AMD without question. Jewtel aren't getting anymore money from me.

What happenend AMD? I remember when AMD was cheaper and offered more performance / efficiency than Intel. Stayed with my 9600 Phenom until 2012.
I've got a Phenom II x4 945 and it's really holding back my new GPU.

I have a 945 with a GTX 970 and it runs like shit. Even a few decade old games chug around 30fps when they used to not. I notice modern games hover around 30fps regardless of what video settings are used, from lowest to Ultra. I can only conclude more CPU power is needed.
