I like netflix, but it's mostly just a time waster. You can't treat it like this:
>I want to watch X, we'll just use netflix
You need to treat it like this:
>lets look for something to watch on netflix. (Unless you happen to know if what you want is on netflix)

Netflix has an alright selection, but it's ratio of things-it-has to all-movies/tv-that-exist is really low, and there's a good chance what you want won't be on it.

I just rip my dvds and blu-rays and watch them over the network. It's faster, local, and significantly higher quality (though private trackers have good rips I gather). My only problem with legal optical media is that it's physical, and has a bunch of bullshit. Once I have the content as a simple file on my network I'm more than happy to have paid for it.

Typical amerifat question.

Netflix USA isn't the same as Netflix anywhere else. Their selection will be shit anywhere else in the world mostly.

Torrent is still a better solution in most of the world because there are no other ways to get the media. Most of the time around the world you don't have the option of buying shit that was o ly available when it was released some stuff never even leaves the US borders.

You don't get it Francine, he can't just use amazon for several reasons, needs us credit card with a US address, won't ship overseas, if it ships overseas he will be importing it which means he has to pay customs fees and depending on the country he may have to literally go to the offices of customs to pay and collect the product he ordered.

It really depends on what you use to watch Netflix
From 4 different devices, each come out with a different quality. It seems my set top box has the best quality out of all of them, its looks exactly like my dvd version. While my s4 looks the worse of the bunch, but i have an s5 using the same app build and my s5 is the second best looking, I can't capture a scree shot from it because "LOL, DRM PROTECTED IMAGE". And my computer is the third best looking. All my devices have at least a speed of 75mbps while the set top box is wired

That's on Windows, though.
Does Netflix let you stream at 1080p+ in a browser yet ?

didn't you read how Netflix already swapped out silverlight for HTML5?
>>
Yes. Netflix in the UK is shit. There's a grand selection of an amazing five films in total and very few tv series actually stay on it long enough for you to watch them all unless you happen to have nothing to do because you've already worked your way through their massive pile of films.

Basically read until the 2nd fullstop.

Yes, I know that HTML5 in general supports this. I'm saying that Netflix does not, regardless of HTML5.

>>52282064
See above.

Also, just tried in Chrome. Netflix still upscales from 720p in browsers, 1080p only available in the app version.

I pay for Spotify but probably won't subscribe to Netflix. It's way overhyped but I guess with American wages and American Netflix selection it ok.

It has a terrible user interface. It's like I'm navigating on a tablet. I just want it to look like a normal website. And the controls are shit too. You can't see how much minutes you've already watched, just how many minutes there is left. Going back and forwards isn't good either because it goes too far at about 20 seconds.
>>
>>52274513
>Are you still going to torrent movies now that Netflix is available worldwide?
Yes

Netflix doesn't have everything I want to see, because of regional rights to watch stuff.

>inb4 just use unblock-us or another VPN
Netflix has made it pretty clear that they are considering to start banning users that do this.
>>
I buy prepaid debit cards each month, using them to get a free trials for Netflix as well as two other similar services.
Then I use the money on the card to buy something else.
There's a fee for each card but I'm still getting Netflix + 2 other streaming subscriptions for half the price of only a Netflix subscription.
>>
>>52275702
>obs screen record
Actually you can buy semi-legal chinese devices that take in HDMI input and save the video in an h264 file
They're kinda hard to find but definitely worth it if you want to save the stuff you watch
>>

This. Its less hassle to torrent movies than to use a VPN and use an american netflix account.

Canada Netflix here.

The catalogue is so bad now its not even worth the $9 a month anymore. The only reason I still have it is because my girlfriend and family all use my account.

i doubt that. i've been collecting pretty aggressively for maybe 3 years now, i'm at 2.5k movies.
>>
>>52289580
Have you been downloading every single day? On the hour, searching for many movies? I think one could reach 10K in a whole year.
>>
>>52289594
i have a job, so i can't do this 24/7, but there are always a couple of movies downloading. i'm having a hard time even finding more that are available in decent quality.
i regularly check rotten tomatoes to find new releases and download everything above 50%.

Netflix is a piece of fucking trash. It has jack shit. I can't even find some stuff that was released over a fucking year ago already.

I'm on my free month, it ends on the 15th but I'm definitely not renewing this POS.

Fuck paying a monthly subscription to watch Literally Who movies from two decades ago and indie shit.

>>52289528

>>52289678
It's called creating RSS feeds for your torrents and or private trackers, you setup rules of what you want downloaded, what quality and shit, once done downloaded, auto upload to server and it's own directory or move it to specific networkdrive / folder.
