Is the FiiO X1 firmware good? I got a M3 but its firmware is dogshit, full of bugs and barely any features. I ended up getting another iPod 5th gen to replace it.

Apple firmware? No, but nobody uses that anyways. It's rockbox-compatible which can play literally everything.

To be fair, I think anime OSTs are often produced pretty well.
Got a FiiO X3 2nd gen, newest update fixed the scrollwheel. Had it for a few months, dropped it a few times so the front is covered in scratches. Other than that I'm happy with it. Where do you guys keep yours? Mine is in my pocket, next to a simple Nokia.

It has a convolver, which is not a parametric EQ, but can act as one.
You feed the convolver an impulse modified by your EQ, and it adjusts the sound with that modified impulse.
Impulse response contains all linear aspects of sound, frequency response, decay, reverb, and so on. EQ falls under that entirely.
