Will try.. This bullshit has been happening for over a month now. First I got rid of it by removing all kinds of system notifications. A week later it came back, and disappeared once I disabled Windows Defender.

And now im gonna try your suggestion. And then what, a week without problems before it comes back? Fucking Microsoft.

All this seems to help some people. And they say linux sucks because windows "just works"

This is a memory leak that happens when you upgrade to Windows 10 or apply the November update and one or more drivers have an issue. It has happened on several of my machines, and the only fix is a clean install.
>>
>>52274058
The point of RAM is for it to be used.

As long as your OS correctly manages the RAM when a higher priority task comes along, whats the problem with it using 2GB when you're doing nothing else at the time?

For what purpose? All thats going to do is stop your printers from functioning. Its not like it uses anything when theres not jobs to be processed.

I have this problem on a windows 8.1 machine. I even had problem booting up after awhile. The disk is healty.

You can't turn off everything that's wrong with Windows 10.

This is the simpler method. Just hit the Windows Key and type "defrag" and open "Defrag and Optimize Drives". Way easier than going to task scheduler and digging through folders.
>>
>>52277832
>implying it matters when they do
>>
>>52277832
Fragmentation doesn't harm an SSDs performance.
>>
>>52277861

it matters , SSDs will last longer if Windows had a proper FileSystem that needs to be defragmented every while , Fat16/Fat32/NTFS are all so far behind in every aspect, why don't they come up with a new FileSytem.
How hard would it be to make a botnet with a well thought File system
>>
>>52278038

Have you really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
>>
>>52269083

The function of the system process is to masquerade as all the kernel land processes on your system. It's not disk defrag doing that, its some driver lagging down your disks.

Probably not your storage drivers, either.

There is a reason it was renamed to "optimize and defragment" in win10. It blanks unused space on ssd for faster writes senpai

>1 days since last run

>>

Because your average idiot on the street has the slightest clue what services they need running right?

Windows is aimed at the average idiot. They haven't a fucking clue what processes or services they need running, so by default it goes for the ones that are likely to cover everyone 99% of the time.

Can the average idiot use even Ubuntu? Fuck no. While its the most user-friendly Linux offering (could be Mint also) if you've a problem with your audio for example troubleshooting it is a complete ballache. Display problem? Fuck that, its just going to dump you at a command line.

Dont be fucking stupid.
>>
>>52278257
It blanks unused space on ssd for faster writes senpai

that's TRIM hommie.
>>
>>52278402

true , Windows wants to be an OS for the average joe, but it does come with variations like "Home edition" , "professional" , "ultimate' etc and all seem to target the average user , it's like they don't think there are power users or anything
>>
blanking or zeroing unused space = wasted write cycles.
the only use blanking is useful i can think of is when you want to make sure no one car recover deleted files, also knowing as secure wiping or whatever fancy name it's called nowadays
>>
>>52277864

harm it's performance ? maybe no
harm it's life span ? a definite yep with no doubt about it
>>
>>52278533

If you're talking about TRIM on SSDs, you're wrong. If a sector is not cleared before new data is written, then it will need to be cleared first before the sector can be written to with new data. Spinning rust is different in this regard.

TRIM does this proactively because it improves overall performance whereas if it were left to be done when the sector is needed it would reduce performance.
>>
>>52278319
>optimize
>>
>>52278666
Fragmentation =/= Defragmentation

Defragmenting a hard drive will use up considerable amounts of writes, slowing down the drive and reducing it's lifespan. Fragmentation means not moving bytes around, and thus not using write cycles.
>>
>>52278437
Yes that is the command sent to the ssd but the defrag utility is what sends this command

>>52278533
write != erase

>>52278666
Fragmentation does not hurt performance or lifespan of ssds
>>
>>52278319
starting with windows 8, defrag now performs trim on ssd's. defrag does both trimming and defragging depending on the type of drive.
>>
>>52277832
>implying SSD's can't fragment
Irrelevant, they have access times measured in nanoseconds

TRIM and whatever built in garbage collector wil keep it running for years (Even longer if you have the sandforce controller)
>>
>>52278038
ALSO! ReFS is/was going to replace NTFS, its better in every aspect, muh built in healing FS no need for CHKDSK bullshit
>>
>>52278883
>Fragmentation does not hurt performance or lifespan of ssds
Of course it hurts performance.
Those 500+MB/s read/write speeds? Only for _sequential_ data. If all your data is fragmented you'll never reach those speeds.
>>
Use a proper task manager and see what is really using the disk.
>>
>>52278688

TRIM only informs the OS which sectors are no longer in use, sort of like the opposite of what a bad block list if for an ext 2/3/4 file system, it just helps the OS unnecessary checks. only benefits in my opinion is avoiding a block-rewrite penalty
>>52278845
i know that , i was talking about defragmentation when i said it harms the performance, also that's not what fragmentation is , it is actually when a file is not stored in contiguous chunks
>>
>>52279095
The effect is negligible in real world use compared to hdds
>>
>>52279131
>not stored in contiguous chunks
They ar'nt on a SSD, the OS thinks they are but all data is spread across all of the NAND, thatch generally why lower capacity have have less performance, less NAND to utilize..
>>
There are people right now learning C# as a career path.
>>
>>52279095
>Those 500+MB/s read/write speeds? Only for _sequential_ data. If all your data is fragmented you'll never reach those speeds.
Wrong. Fragmentation is an issue because of meta data. It causes CPU spikes and a slight decrease of the performance.

A good filesystem will be almost immune to fragmentation, SSD or not.
>>
>>52279365
So are this arguing in favor of defragging is for nothing because the solid state drive decides on it's own where shit goes? Fucking hilarious.
>>
>>52279485
>Fucking hilarious.

Whats fucking hilarious is the fact that you'r autistic, Do you think the actual chunks of data are one after another on a SSD? That they are not infarct, evenly placed by the driver controller, across all of the NAND to maximize the life you get out of each cell?
