My friends computer just died and he donated the cpu to me (motherboard was completely dead)
Should I order a Chinese motherboard and overclock it, or should I not be cheap and get an i3 4170/6100 or fx6300 instead? It's an i5 750.
How much difference will there be in performance between the i5 at let's say 3.8ghz, vs a newer i3?
Australian prices would be $170 for the i3 and +60 for a basic motherboard.
Or if I get the Chinese one it'll be around 80 dollars after conversion for cpu+ mobo.
This will be my first desktop, I'm usually on my vaio laptop for computer related things.
I may or may not also pick up on video games since I have a few friends who want me to join them.
How much of a difference would there be between h55 and p55?
I'll obviously add heatsinks to the motherboard.
Bump?

That mobo is colored like it was made of legos

Color or aesthetics doesn't bother me, I just picked that because it was amongst the cheapest and offered 2 pcie x16 slots.
The p55 one is 5 dollars cheaper, but doesn't have the heatsink so I'm not sure about power phases or overclocking. Not really expecting anything fancy though, just a stable overclock.

>caring about the color of your parts
fuck off

Never cheap out on your motherboard, friend.
Let's have rate eachother's motherboards. I'll start.

My only gripe with mine is the PCI slots.
> motherboard so cheap the listing has to say that it's "100% original"
Are you a gambling man, OP?

Found this, same motherboard as in my OP, but then again it is from China so it'll be a gamble.

I'd rather cheap out on the motherboard than the power supply though.

Nice. 2 full x16 slots.
And don't hate pci.

Noo, you're able to get yourself a good powersupply for dirt cheap. Motherboards are much more important than the powersupply.
I'm Australian mate.
And I'd rather not settle on a power supply less than 700w with an 80+ bronze rating.
