Github is just one of those stupid internet fads, right?
I mean no one actually takes github seriously, RIGHT?
In the same way certain companies will look at you funny for not having a facebook, certain technology companies are the same with Github. At best, a necessary evil, at worst, nothing to worry about at all.

It is a git repository to host your code base and a pretty good one. Nothing more, nothing less.
I avoid github like the plague.
The only time GitHub will be a nice place to be again is if facebook and/or twitter start hosting git repos and take all the SJW cancer away.
