At its simplest, a compositor can be useful to get rid of flickering and screen tearing. But otherwise, it's mostly non-essential eyecandy.
If you're using a lightweight DE or just a WM and are experiencing screen tearing, Compton might be for you. Otherwise, your DE probably already has a compositor, or you just don't need/want a compositor.

I had posted last night that I was having an issue with Ubuntu Wily and gdm (it would boot into a black screen). I had said that I had to use a tty to change back to lightDM to fix it. I moved my Windows 10 install to an SSD yesterday and today I'll install Arch through the Architect Installer on the remaining 1TB HDD. I saw some videos, but a couple of questions remain:
-Will Grub detect Windows 10 if it's on another drive?
-Will auto partition create a 1TB partition? I wanted to keep / in a 30 or 20GB partition and use the rest as an NTFS shared container. This isn't a huge deal because I can resize it later, but still.

It's not a 4-key simultaneous shortcut btw.
alt+space opens the same menu you get from right clicking the top window bar.
'e' then opens the "Edit" submenu, and whatever key next corresponds to that command e.g. mark, copy, paste

Why do people still use infinality? Last I checked the patch set was out of date (not compatible with the latest freetype), and subpixel rendering had been implemented in the core program. It causes nothing but problems.

After reboot kernel modules failed to load and nothing works, Uname -a shows kernel 4.2.5-1.
I had to downgrade back to 4.2.5-1.
