The surface is basically a big touchpad. Some people hate it, some love it. I never used one until I bought one, and it is the best mouse I've ever used. Depends on your grip as well, it hurts some people's hand but I've never had an issue even after using it for ~8 hours straight.

Seriously I can maybe understand spending money on an apple laptop or phone, but why the fuck would you buy one of their shitty accessories? They are awful in every way. I have that mouse and it hurts to use it for more than an hour, the shape is fucking terrible, the battery life sucks and it doesn't work with Windows. The only good thing is the gestures.

I already said it never hurt me, depends on your grip. The shape is quite elegant if we're being honest, and the battery lasts for two months before I need to plug it in overnight and forget about it for two more months. Yeah, some mice last a year, because they're pieces of shit. If charging something 6 times a year makes it shit you have issues.
