Because Apple understood that a good OS:
- Should never get in your way and just fade out while you do your work. No annoying popups and updates.
- Should be fast.
- Should be stable.
- Should have good battery life on laptops.
- First-party apps should be good as fuck so third-party developers have to make an extra effort to be able to compete and fit into the ecosystem.
- Should be good for "power" users too. This means UNIX plumbing, consistent keybindings everywhere and powerful window management tools like Expose/Mission Control, to name a few.
And the hardware where it runs must be God-tier too, with good keyboards and trackpads. To sum up, Apple nailed it.

There's nothing wrong with El Capitan and it certainly isn't slow. Also I never have WiFi problems or kernel panics. I don't get lockups or have any performance issues. I'd rather have good first party programs then have to bloat my computer with a ton of shit because the OS dev can't be fucked to make an effort. clean install of El Cap reporting in: everything you said only applies to upgrades (windows is no different) granted I had upgraded 4 times from the last 4 OS's, and had done extensive modification to my os (gasp, but your trolling manual clearly states you cant modify osx) so that's probably why i had problems.
