I have my cpu fans down to their physical lowest until it hits 50c then they ramp up.
I used to have the fans completely off, but I was scared of the liquid getting too hot in my shitty AIO cooler.

This is overclocked at 4.4ghz at 1.11v

He threw in the case, too. (Fractal Design Core 3000 USB 3.0)
Though it's not GSkill 1866 RAM like he said, it's Kingston 1600 CAS 10. He probably decided last second to swap out and keep the good stuff for his new build.
I'm not complaining.
I have another 2x2GB 1600 CAS9 that another guy threw in for free when I went to pick up his mobo/RAM/case combo, so I think I'll see if this will run at CAS 9 and bump this build up to 12GB.

Drives are carryovers. There's another $160 there, so technically it's a $445 computer w/ SSD and 2.8TB. $475 including monitor.

CPU has a Corsair h75 water cooler, GPU has stock fans. not sure why the GPU's reported idle temp is always so high though. I've felt the heatsink fins before during idle and they feel pretty cool to the touch. Under load though, it hardly ever goes over 70.
It's all in a HAF XB EVO case (awesome cube-style case, would absolutely recommend).

it depends on the game and graphics settings, really. At 1440 it kinda struggles in Fallout 4 until I lower the anti-aliasing, but at this resolution you can get away with lower AA settings. I also turn off the wetness feature for good measure (probably unnecessary). Fallout 4 caps at 72fps so I can't say how much higher it would go without the cap. The Talos Principle averaged a little over 120fps and Tales from the Borderlands literally never went below 144fps.

I've barely had the monitors for 2 weeks (excluding about a week of traveling during the holidays) so those are the only games I've played on them so far. Ultrawide's gonna be even more resource-hungry though, so if you're playing demanding games you might want to either invest in a second 970 for SLI or settle with lower graphics settings until the new Pascal GPUs come out

Why?

It's brilliant for 1080/60 gaming on high-ultra settings and has lots of overclocking headroom. You just have to use lower AA.
Everything I've tried has ran smoothly.

Not great, but it isn't at true idle (~5% load) and my room is rather hot. So this seems acceptable. i3-4160.

>>52239606
i7 4790k $350
mobo $100-150
sell 970s $+3-400
buy 1-2 980ti $550-1400

if you get 1 980ti get a 5820k or better

obviously sticking with the 970s if the best perf honestly for now but Im still stuck in the 3.5 gb meme and doubly so when it comes to sli
>>
>>52236734
holy shit that is a beast system. Aren't your ssd temps below ambient?
>>
>>52239758

What you're telling me to do is basically what I was planning on doing anyways.

I am probably gonna sell my 970s or trade em for a 980 ti.

What I plan on getting:

Corsair RM Series 650 Watt
Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz
I7-6700k
Z170 ATX Motherboard

Grand Total est with tax n shit; A bit over 1grand fml.

So yeah, I probably will just use the 4790k :\

As long as you get a decent 4790k the OC will make it negligible. also dont forget the little bump from selling your old system( should you want to).

good choice on the rm 650 m8, got a rm 850 myself.
If you can go to a microcenter, do it.

Fans are automatically controlled by Asus AI Suite and they are running at only 30%.
Corsair 300R with 1 front and 1 back fan and the Hyper 212 EVO with its only fan. I mean it's 37°C it's still waaaay far from danger
>>
>>52240550

I don't know i haven't really checked. I only know the gpu never goes more than 60°C because that's where the fans turn on. I'll have to check the CPU temps tomorrow. What should they be like?

I disabled turbo mode and set up the bios so that the CPU always runs at 3.5@GHz if that's what you mean. I don't think the cpu ever goes more than 40°C though. I'll keep an eye on that when gaming
