Do high-end AMD cards really get as hot as people say they do?

Why don't you go ahead and test it?
>>
why don't you look up some benchmarks and review like an adult

Yes.

Not at all
AMD card in general do get a bit hot while running on full load as compared to NVIDIA counterparts but the temperatures are often exaggerated. Actually not many people know this but NVIDIA's quadro cards are ridiculously delicate when it comes to temperature tolerance. My Quadro FX350 died while browsing the internet, talk about fragile, AMD card are a lot more durable for some reason

AMD cards run hotter but they also run harder. We've seen Nvidia throttling their hardware because their shit can't sustain it.

If you want absolute best performance for your buck, get AMD

I have an R9 390 and been playing a lot of rainbow six at ultra 1440p, hottest I've seen it get is 63 degrees. MSI version at stock clocks.

980 Ti master race, here. Only the Titan X and 980 Ti, of recent memory, have run into thermal issues, and they have - in the actual, real world - only limited how high you can overclock. Stock and GPU Boost speeds are unaffected unless you're in a very small form factor case with garbage airflow, at which point many cards would struggle.

Also, dat 290x temp. (this is from the Fury X review)

not exactly high end, but my msi 270 hasn't gone over 59 degrees, i don't play that high end shit tho, just tf2 on max 1080p

At load GPU2 usually gets to around 69-70c while GPU1 stays at around 59-60. Neither fan goes above 60% fan speed. It really depends on what cooler you get. Sapphire is pretty good with their Tri-X. Anything reference for AMD is going to suck though.

Who gives a shit? You can't even buy a reference 290X any more. A third party card runs cooler than your average 970. Nvidia confirmed for housefires.
