whats that horizontal slot for?
>>52225675
probably for a slot loading optical drive if one chooses to install one. Without any proportional reference I don't know if the width accommodate that or what though. It could just be yet another way for air to get in/out.

For posting letters.
My favourites are all the pricey community-driven cases at hardforum, but I'll post off-the-shelf ones in light of your plebiness poorfaggotry.

Slim optical drive like you'd find on the Wii or Wii U where there's no ejecting tray.
>>52225724
This thing was great. Sorry for the shit quality; took this photo some six years ago on my flip phone.
>>52225731
>>52225748
what do you need to make something like that?
>>52225750
>>52225762
nes, and computer parts i think, idk im not a professional though
>>52225771
that part is given but do I need to like cut shit out and drill holes?

>Cheap mobo/CPU combo (This one uses a VIA CPU, and it's shit)
>Hard Drive
>Laptop DVD drive plus adapter
>Mousepad to act as insulator
>Some duct tape
>Dremel tool for the backplate and interior
>and an old case fan that revs up to shop-vac sound levels
You can do it better nowadays with pretty much any low-profile or passive-cooled board, and SSD, and any number of other things.
>>52225780
>>52225707
How much would that water cooling setup cost?
>>52225786
>>52225762
Oh, and the PSU is a PicoPSU, which is a tiny thing that plugs directly into the mobo 20-pin with barely any liftoff. It's like 120W, enough for the mobo and like two drives. The main components are moved outside, much like a laptop power cord.
>>52225806
$400 plus. $140 for the Switech block and pump, $100 for a GPU block, $60 for a good slim radiator, ??? for the custom reservoir, plus a decent amount for fittings / tube / fans etc.
>>52226029
Fittings are about $15 for every component you put in.
Tubing is about $30 for 4m or so.
>>52226049
Sure, I assume anyone building this would want Bitspower / hard tubing / whatever shit is Gucci this month.
>>52225810
I swear if they made like a 250 watt version I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
>tfw there's pretty much no such thing as a good mini PSU
>>52226077
Hard tubing in a SFF build is just asking for an unpleasant time.
But yeah, so long as it looks good I guess. Not my cup of tea but there you go.
Cheap and cheerful
Much sexy

Mein Neger
I use this one as a home server. Since it needed to be quiet, the interior is custom-padded with noise-dampening foam, and I replaced the edgy glowing stock fans with silent ones. The only downside is that it gets stuffy in there quickly with a growing number of hard disks.
>>52225750
i would get the pc-q26 for my next NAS if only any of the new Xeon-D ITX boards had more than the on-CPU 6 drive support.
most likely going with the pc-q25 instead
>>52225511
Are there performance drawbacks to this form factor? Like could you fit a GTX 970 in there?
>>52229499
the big drawbacks are that ITX board are generally rather pricey and that some systems like quad-channel DDR4 x99 boards just can't fit everything in that they support.
but a GTX 970 will generally work in one of these provided you have good ventilation.
250d is an underrated mitx case.
Only competitors in this range are Air 240 and Prodigy.
>>52229572
Same anon here.
From the looks of it most mini ITX motherboards only support 16gb RAM.
And they don't seem particularly pricey. Can you clarify for me?

For clarification, this is the view from above?
I assume the PSU is below the motherboard
>>52225711
>went to buy this one
>gone from fucking everywhere
>had to settle down for a coolermaster elite 130 instead
Turned out better than expected desu though
>>52229645
>underrated
More like oversized turd.
There are matx cases that are smaller than this shit.
>>52225778
No, actually. It's a little known fact that Nintendo invented the ITX formfactor with the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System)
>>52229868
>There are matx cases that are smaller than this shit.
I know, retard. There are 2 kinds of mitx cases:
1) small with subpar airflow and limited expansion; great for NAS builds (Node 304)
2) medium-small with great airflow and no-limits (Node 804, Prodigy, Air 240)
>>52229944
Don't forget the Phanteks EVO ITX. It's sensual!
>>52229944
Actually node 804 is a micro. delete that
>>52230000
So is the air 240.
>>52230045
Yes, but I will say the air 240 is hard to define. Smaller than a lot of mitx cases.
>>52230096
The only thing I hate about the air 240 is the lack of headroom for high GPUs. I've seen people take hacksaws to there window just to fit in 970s/390s because of the heatpipes protruding out against the glass.
>>52230096
Which makes it an awesome case for shitty amd users like me. Feels good mane.
>>52230110
True. You also can't you a standard 120mm cpu cooler. Had to switch to aio for mine.
>>52225511
This is what I have. Works pretty good. Muh thick aluminum front panel.
>>52230096
Had to cut away at the stupid tooless gpu holder to get that r9 390 in there.
>>52230276
where do the hard drives go?
>>52230325
and power supply?
>>52230276
Its a two chamber case so there is a dividing wall and they are all behind it. Along with a huge rats nest of cables.
>>52230372
ahhhh ok.. i like that a lot actually. Makes neat cable management pretty easy it seems.
gonna do a mini or micro for my next build i think
>>52230391
Its a good case just make sure you figure out the measurements of your gpu before putting it in. Other than that I like this case.
>>52228432
That's my next case.. some time anyway.
Not even released but pretty impressive still
>>52230711
man, I was gonna post that
>>52230711
>>52230756
what is this
>>52230711
>>52230756
impressively tiny, but what sort of monstrous PCIe extender do they use to get the GPU connector on the far opposite side of the board?
I guess it's nice that the GPU fan can be facing a vented side panel, but the electrical signal integrity of this thing might scare me.
How do you guys manage a mITX case without having your hardware melt down?
My mid tower is messy and full of cables as it is but I don't know how that mess would even last in a portable mini case.
>>52230711
is that a spot for a 2.5" HDD mount below the PSU, or are you stuck looking for mobos with m.2 SSDs only?
>>52230777
i don't know, but checked
>>52230844
Tie rips and more tie rips for my SG05. Cleaning is out of the question because all cables are tied together. Don't fall for the meme senpai. Buy a small tower.
>>52229923
so that's how those people were fitting itx builds into NES cases..
>>52230711
so PS pulls in from side panel and vents up?
and main chamber has a fan on top venting up as well but no room for anything on the side blowing in?
the spacial design for this thing seems too aggressive to meet realistic thermal needs IMO.
>>52226029
That sounds unnecessarily expensive.
>>52230276
What case is that?
>>52230711
>>52230756
>graphics card on the bottom half
Do these people not know heat rises? That poor motherboard.
>>52231395
>bottom half
what
are you retarded
>>52225675
Salami.
>>52225695
let me guess you're this faggot
>>52230276
1 more milimeter and that card will start bending elements.. ffs, this is why you don't buy commie cards.
>>52229944
There is only 1 kind of mitx case and the 250d isn't part of it. That fucking thing is huge and corsair should stop shilling it
>>52229994
>Phanteks EVO ITX
I have mATX cases smaller than that
>>52230827
Most of the cost is in that riser...
The designer is a retard
>>52225511
Small enough for ya?
>>52232460
yeah, I eventually found a relevant pic.
> 2x16 unidirectional PCIe lanes carried over like a foot of fucking twinax ribbon cable
I guess there's no real way to avoid this with making the space between the GPU and the back of the mobo mount panel a lot wider for airflow, but this is not something I would personally pay for as-is.
>>52232517
...why
>>52232517
>>52232604
more like how?
as is how the fuck is there space for DIMMs, and how do all the mobo components get adequate cooling?
>>52232640
>>52232604
Motherboard sensor is broken.
>>52225675
Once upon a time there existed things called "cd-roms".
They were awful.
>>52232599
it's literally irrelevant for shielded ribbon cables
Also the silverstone TJ08 for practicality, but this is far sexier.
>>52232711
Crosstalk. Latency issues.
You don't know shit
>>52232711
I was saying I'd rather get a slightly wider case with a shorter/cheaper wraparound riser.
shielded twinax does have pretty decent range, but non-shit cables tent to cost a lot.
> sauce: crying every time I buy 10/40Gb direct-attach copper patches
>>52231531
Look at the back of the case, moron.
>>52230276
>Windows 7 Ready
kek i think i had that motherboard like 5 or 6 years ago
>>52231132
Corsair air 240
>>52232857
yeah when i had bought my fx 6300 it came free thanks Microcenter.
>>52225511
>Implying I use Mini ITX
Fuck that garbage.
>>52232726
It's like an $80 3m cable, pretty sure it can do the job
>>52230849
there are spots for 3x 2.5" drives
>>52230941
Yes for the PSU part
there is a spot for mounting a fan on the bottom, just like there is one for the top
the case is Dan A4 SFX, Lian-Li made the prototypes, it's still in test
My next build in a few years will have a qt little feminine case
Silverstone ML08 master race reporting in
>>52232801
It's meant to stand the way it is in the pic
>>52228432
This looks pretty sweet.
Might be getting this if I ever try building a shitty pc.
>>52232224
that's the faggiest bs ever. reddit much?
