I have a Moto X Play with 16GB internal. The phone has a SD card slot, but I don't even use it, since I can barely fill 14GB of my phone. I rarely listen to music and only have a few apps in it, and only two games (Love Live SIF JP and EN). I don't see how people can fill in 128GB on their phones, like holy shit, do you take a thousand photos per day and never back them up?
Apple started unifying the storage in their iPhones, iPads, and slim Macbooks. They're all going to use the same soldered on SSDs, so an increase in storage density really isn't surprising or new.

The only advantages a full frame offers is sensor size, lens size, and lens interchangeability. In many ways the software used in modern smartphones is vastly superior to what many DSLRs have. Using a slightly larger sensor and incorporating a certain percentage of pixel binning into every picture taken is a common practice that makes up for the sensor getting less photos per pixel.
