Not any more of a meme than the 50x, if you have a good deal on it then it's not a bad buy

Well what's another good buy in that price range? Sony v6/7506 are 30 euros more expensive.

In the previous thread I've had DT250 80 Ohm recommended to me. However I can get DT 880 PRO or DT 990 Edition 32 Ohm for marginally more money, and those seem to have way better reviews.

You know, I think I would have preferred it if the aluminium rings weren't anodized. Not that I ever appreciated any Audeze headphone in any other fashion.

To be honest I could live with open backed headphones too. Would the DT990 be a right choice?

There was an Indiegogo campaign ages ago for pic related. They arrived recently after multiple delays. Brookstone still sells them regularly for 130 monetary freedom units. You can get much better audio quality for the same price, so you should not consider them for primary use.

In case you're interested, the sound is bass-heavy, and mostly alright apart from that. Don't expect monitor quality. The cable is detachable and uses standard 3.5mm plugs on both ends, so it can be replaced easily with generic parts. A detachable microphone is included that provides sufficient audio quality for voice chat.

Noise insulation is surprisingly good - it's hard to understand what people say even if no music is running. The headphones are a bit heavy due to the USB-rechargeable batteries powering the LEDs and the cat ear speakers, but they are still comfy to wear for extended periods of time.

Needless to say, they are not suitable for use on the road unless you have abandoned your humanity completely. Stick to your home or an open-minded workplace that appreciates a friendly, harmless weirdo.
>>
>>52216446
If that's anything like the original HD 595 which that and 598 are based on, then the soundstage is absolutely tiny. That's the main reason I'm never going back to Sennheiser from AKG K701's. And I own 2 pairs of 595's.
>>
Are these good for wireless or should I get something wired? (like MDR7506 or M50X)

I have 2 (probably) stupid questions.
from the wiki:
>As a generalisation, more impedance will require more voltage and less current, and visa versa.
>However for the purpose studio monitoring, many 600ohm headphones in one amp is much better than many 32ohm headphones in one amp as it will require less current, and produce less heat.

Are the only upsides of impedance requiring less current? what's the benefit of this?

Doesn't more electrical resistance generate more heat?

Run through the basic formulas of Watt's law (Voltage*Current=Power) and Ohm's law (Voltage=Current*Impedance) again, and run through substitutions of units.

Multiple headphones are connected in parallel, reducing load impedance presented to the amplifier. This doesn't affect voltage output, but increases current draw for each headphone connected. With identical headphones, current is multiplied for each headphone connected. Power rises accordingly.

I just bought the Audio Technica ATH-900X, how bad did I fuck up? Needed nice over-ear cans, and these were on sale for $140.

Also, I am having "autist issues" with the cord.
The cord is quite long, and I have part of the cord bundled in a figure 8 pattern, velcro-ed together. I assume this isn't the proper way to handle the cord, and could present voltage issues. Is there a way to shorten/store the cord without causing issues?

Probaly an accident. Today i noticed a little static sound on the left speaker while slightly pulling on the cable. When i opened them one internal cable got detached from its solder point. And now there completely dead.

Maybe i will mod them and add a detachable cable.

Prove me wrong fags, this is solely how they are reviewed and price, the HD600 are worse reviewed by professionals than the X2. X2s cost less, and need no placebo amp so they are A LOT CHEAPER. Closed headphones are just shit anyway but at least you get quality and sound with those compared to the old placebos

Youre just mad you bought into teh maymay

And beyond a good sounding pair of headphones, you already get a lot better sound for half as much! The crokrafts are 100$ with amp, and Elacs are great tier. But slrs ofc beat them but I see no point in buying monitors for regular people (not professionals)

I mean, if you want a smooth toned and dark tilted IEM, the 535 is fine. The red special edition (really just a filter swap) makes it less dark. Shure packaging is good, and it ticks feature boxes well enough.
What I mean is don't pay full retail for it. The aftermarket has lots of deals on the 535 if you go looking for it.

There are others to look for, but tell what what you are looking for.

>>52221574
The idea is that a linear phase EQ has a constant group delay and it averages out level adjustments symmetrical to the waveform. The symmetric waveform is achieved by delay to introduce energy before the main impulse.
A minimum phase EQ has a non-linear group delay and lower latency for it, with spectral energy shifted in a more obviously causal manner. That is, the impulse causes ringing after the impulse instead of before and after the impulse as in a linear phase filter. A minimum phase filter also has a unique relation between the impulse response and the magnitude domain.

A minimum phase EQ is always recommended for audio system equalization. Less overhead, less latency, and improves phase/temporal accuracy. Linear phase can be considered for mixing and mastering while its use in DAC stopband filters is somewhat more contentious.

>>52221618
Those are for cutoff filters, not for general minimum phase equalization.
