So, /g/, how do you reuse your old PCs?
Pic rel is an old Toshita tablet PC with 2GB RAM and U2500 CPU. I acquired it from my company and apparently saved it from being scraped.
What useful can I do with it?
The battery still lasts for about 30 minutes of watching HD videos. The GPU is GMA 950 and the HDD is a shitty 1,8inch 80GB one. WiFi is only b/g.
Also, old PCs thread.

/g/ pls, let's have at least one productive thread on this board.
The PC looks like this:
>>52210546
Install a lightweight Linux distro
>>52210873
Linux works like shit on it. Firefox under stripped Debian is incapable of handling single website like /g/.
Oh, and for some reason the sound doesn't work on it.
>>52210546
I don't, I sell them.
>>52210890
Use puppy
>>52210973
There are no sound drivers for linux for this device. Even the wacom tablet works only on some distros (not all, not even most of them)
Install gentoo on it, great use of it. Very educational and you get a OS that perfectly fits the hardware like a glove.
>>52211046
>educational
I got multiple servers running Linux, I don't need another linux machine, especially for "educational use". If I had to educate myself I'd get myself a nice VM containing linux.
The problem with tech of this age is SBCs can do a better job of most tasks while using less energy.
The only benefit here is the screen/keyboard so make use of those somehow, emulate or play old games on xp/posready?
>>52210657
I only opened the thread because it was non-meme/autism/shill content. This board fucking sucks now
>>52211346
Well... I assumed you were a winbaby gaymer like most people here.
or lubuntu
both with upstart
>>52210546
I run slowlaris on a similar system and use it as an X terminal, other hardware I dedicate as file archivers. Other shit I just keep around and rebuild/play with as a side thing.
>>52215235
>file archivers
b-but I own an embedded home server with lots of storage
Since that's a tablet PC maybe I could make it a nice home server controller?
It has only pen input tho.

awrh. i also had/still have a Toshiba tabletPC but the battery's so dead it barely stays on.
i've thought of turning it into some kind of wacom tablet, or some notebook with a more basic chip into it. but that'd be a massacre.
i have a 2005 dell chinkpad from work
i use it as a dedicated seedbox/torrent machine so my main rig doesn't get left on all night
