Got the 64gb Nexus 6 on the black friday for 250
The camera is ass in general (my old Note 2 is better) and AMOLEDs look great but burn in a little bit. I wish they would have went with the LCD screens desu since I like to listen to podcasts on YouTube
Everything else is top notch, though. Qi/Wireless/Fast charging options are great, battery is top notch, and the everything is snappy. It looks like it'll last me 3 years at minimum if I don't break shit.

My battery life with N5 is 2-3 days with average usage, 5-6 with only occasional e-mail checks and replying on facebook messenger.
If you turn off everything stupid useless thing you don't really use, you will get much better battery life.

You can't completely escape the botnet. All you can do is behave nicely on this kind of systems and do nasty stuff on others.
Try disabling nfc, google assistant, location related stuff and set it to only sync apps and photos when it's plugged+wifi on. Your battery life will be much better.

I've got a Nexus 5 but it's falling to pieces. I'm thinking of either going for the Nexus 5x (£300) or the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact (£379). What would you recommend? The smaller size of the compact appeals, and I imagine Sony's build quality is better than LGs, but I do like the Nexus line.

I'm not looking for anything high tier, want to spend £100 at the most and the only things that are really important to me are decent battery life and web browsing. Download black screen of life on the play store. When you put it face down it uses the proximity sensor and turns the screen black, leaving the background sound playing. I use it on my nexus 6 and use it all the time. Definitely a must if you watch video podcasts on an AMOLED display.

If it's not on and I rub it enough or put in my armpit or some shit, I can get it on. Now the question is how do I fix it? Camera is still way too slow. Flash is utter shit as well. Before all the retards on /g/ spouting, "GET A REAL CAMERALOLOLOL," chime in: I have a real camera. I have more money put in lenses for my DSLR than probably at least half of /g/ does on their PC. However, I'm not going to walk around every day with a DSLR strapped to my face. Camera phones are all about convenience and it's nice to have a really fast one.
The speakers are also really shit. Really, really fucking shit. It's pretty lame if I want to show someone a video or I don't have my IEMs with me (or simply don't want to use them).
That's pretty much my big three gripes. Otherwise I've been pretty happy with the phone.

BROOOOOOOOO this JUST happened to me. Nexus 5 has a HUGEEE power button issue and it gets stuck down like on the motherboard. its not something you can fix without resoldiering a new switch. mine was doomed for the trash and rebooting to no end and the only way to fix it was to rip it open and pry off the power button. now it works fine but you have to short the connections to turn it on and I remapped the lock/unlock to volume up. hope it helps

Whenever I boot I just get an unspecified error.
I can access the bootloader but selecting recovery mode gets me the same error so I can't wipe and reset to a factory rom.
So if I don't want to shell out $250 extra for a 6P or V10, should I get the G4 or what are the other options?

Owned my for a good month now, lovin' it. SD card speeds were poor, but I switched from an old Sandisk Extreme to a Samsung Evo Plus and my speeds are much better. Great all-rounder, although I would be very much tempted to pay a premium for a Nexus 5X if it had expandable storage.

No. The Evo Plus is an enhanced model of the Evo. Evo isn't bad, though.
Various people reported issues with SD card reading on the OPX, the only issue I had personally is lagging in switching tracks in PowerAmp, but it has been remedied.
If the price difference is small, you might as well cancel your Evo and buy an Evo Plus, just to be sure.

i'm dubious about sony. their support forum is full of complaints about phones dying, connectors coming off, rear glass breaking and so on.
i was going to buy a z3 compact, but there are hundreds of complaints about it on their forum. and sony's customer service seems non-existent.
i've known that sony (ericsson) had shit build quality and hardware issues going back to at least 2005. how they haven't rectefied this 11 years on, i do not know.
