The goal is for the entire OS to function as if it were a full-on Windows 10 PC, but with a TV friendly overlay, similar to steam big picture mode.

Xbox one uses a hypervisor with 2 OSes, one runs the heavily modified windows for UI and apps, it's pretty resource starved so it wouldn't be able to run it too well. The other is for gaming and while they don't specify it, is obviously another heavily modified windows just for gaming. To do actual windows stuff they'd need to have a third, more full windows OS added and give it a fair amount of the resources, but it would run like shit anyways on just 1.75ghz cores.

I rarely ever game, but I really despise consoles. They are normal computers with a crippled, locked down OS on them, with their main advantage being easier to use by less tech literate people, so of all people I would least expect the people on /g/ to like them.
They don't create nearly as much competition in the graphics card, cpu, etc industry as desktop PCs, or even laptops, because you only have two to choose from with zero customisability (maybe three if you're such a faggot that you'd legitimately buy a wii).
You can't mod your games, it's harder to pirate shit, can't back up your saves as easily, etc.
They didn't have keyboard and mouse support up till now, and playing rts, rpg and moba games without that is just retarded. Fps games can be played, but of course a mouse is still superior to a controller when it comes to aiming, this is why they have autoaim or some shit on consoles that automatically moves your aim in the right direction if you get close enough.
