Depends on which Quadro card is in there.
The standard Quadro M600M won't handle much, but if you get the M3000M or higher it will handle light gaming fine.
You're spending way too much money by then though.

Will this work together?
Why I'm getting this CPU instead of i3 or i5 is because I can't spend 120eur above for Motherboard+RAM+CPU(Very critically I can go ~130eur(like now)), and later when I get money, I will upgrade it straight to i5
Or I'm getting wrong CPU? Or DDR3 1600 won't work with it? What should I get? For Arma 2: Dayz mod and stuff, and it shouldn't go above 120 euros.

I suspected my psu killed my gpu and was causing some other system gremlins, so following a guide I tested the voltages of all the pins out and they all fall within tollances. So aside from a pin labled as ground in each of the pci-e cables that returns no current. (I think it has to do with the fact that they are 6 and 6 +2 and not the full 8 used on the connector but it still conserned me a bit so I mentioned it.)

So my real question is all of the voltages I read are taken from when the psu is not under load, is this a vallade test of the unit? Because I feel like the testing set up is a little idealized.
>>
>>52190312
in terms of performance, not really. default clock might be higher on one, but you can just overclock to reach the same clock.

the cooling solution (temperatures, noise level) and available outputs are more important.

Just now I moved 26 .rar files into my recycling bin. I went to delete them, but when I searched ".rar" I only saw 13. I thought that was a mistake, but I did it again and it still only returned those 13, and in fact, that was all that was in my recycling bin despite my not having emptied it in months. I deleted the 13 .rar files that showed, and I even restarted my PC and emptied my recycle bin by running CCleaner, and it didn't even delete anything in the recycle bin, so I believe everything I had in there for the past few months is just lost, for whatever reason.

What the fuck happened here? Does the recycle bin in Windows just purge itself of everything below a certain threshold once it crosses that threshold? If so, is that threshold one of size in gigabytes, or number of files? Because fuck.

Clock speed and timings on RAM are both pretty much irrelevant to you as a user.
The only difference you'd ever see is in benchmarks, and potentially better overclocking results which you won't be doing on that motherboard anyway.

I'm looking to buy a solid state drive for a much needed pc upgrade. Given that I don't use much storage space (I'm currently using just under 20 GB and I can't recall ever passing 30) what features should I look at when comparing products?

Also, the new motherboard has a SATA3 and a M.2 Type-M connector. I assume the better mount is the M.2, is that correct?

I use mines for porn, youtube,
checking the front page of reddit
, and lurking 4chan.

Unfortunately however, if you condition yourself to only view porn on the tablet, not being able to browse certain porn sites due to lack of flash can get real annoying. Also, certain monetized content on youtube can't be viewed on mobile, but those're the main downsides for casual browsing.

Hey, a friend has this kind of setup:
- PS4 which uses HDMI out to get video and audio to monitor
- PC which uses DVI to get video to monitor, and 3.5mm audio cable to get to 2.1 speaker set.

The monitor has an audio out jack which can also go to the 2.1 speaker set
The monitor does not have builtin speakers.

Now my friend wants to easily switch the speakers from the PC to the PS4 whenever he games on whichever, which is now kinda hard since he has to unplug the 3.5mm cable from behind the monitor, and then go under his desk to plug it in there.

Is there some magical box that has 2 3.5mm inputs and one 3.5mm output, and just a simple switch to select which input to use?

Or am I overlooking an easy fix.

Added a pic to clarify the situation.
Currently he has to switch the green cable between the monitor and PC all the time, which kinda sucks.

If I want to give myself eye cancer by reading books on it then I may as well just read on my phone, too. I prefer eInk displays for reading.

You would use the PC sound mixer to toggle the audio output lines.
Simultaneous use will work but probably degrade quality.
Is you insist on a physical, external toggle then try searching for "pc audio switch" and see if anything appropriate turns up. KVM switches are a thing, no sure if 3.5mm audio switches are.

Accelero Twin turbo 2 GTX 580.png
2 MB, 1137x957
Probably not really that simple(or it could be REAL simple), but I've got a 6 year old EVGA GTX 580 that was getting up to 90ish C under load after half a decade of abuse, so I figured it was worth it to invest 40$ on an after market cooler(Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo 2). Just popped her back in after putting it together, and after about 2 minutes under load, i saw speccy showing the card hitting 100+c and then my screens went blank and i got the "dvi/hdmi not detected" message. The card was still on, I checked to see if the Acceleros' fans were running and they were. Is it just simply over heating that fast? It never actually overheated with the reference cooler on it, but under load the fan was working over time and it was just loud as hell, which is another reason I'd wanted to try out an aftermarket cooler. Some things to note:

-The ram heatsinks are attached with thermal paste(i didnt use what it came with because i just assumed the noctua N1-1H i had left over would be far superior than what was included-could I be wrong?) and after letting them cure over night(says 1 hour but I assembled late last night and just went to bed, figured 6 hours could only help it) but are still a little..wiggly for lack of a better term. Is that an issue or is it normal for them to not be really sealed down?

-I've attached a pic of what it looks like apart here, the cooler came with paste on it but i removed it and used the noctua paste just as i did on the vram(it actually looked like a shit ton of paste was on it out of the box.) Am I retarded and just didnt put enough down? Should I apply it directly to the gpu chip instead of on the cooler heatsink as it was out of the box?

Being that it is "overheating" so quick I just feel I've done something terrible wrong when putting this thing together. First time fucking with aftermarket gpu coolers so im lost in the woods here. Sorry for the long winded post, I just try to be as thorough as possible in the OP.

I did, i restarted after the first time and everything seemed fine, I let it ride for about 20 minutes just watching something on netflix before I tried it under actual load.( I just loaded up Path of Exile) and after about 2 minutes of playing the screens went blank again. So I know I didn't just completely screw it up.

As far as airflow, I have a Fractal 3500 and all cables are tied back behind the mobo plate, and I have 3 140mm fans pushing and 1 on the front pulling, CPU temp is pretty frosty. I do have a noctua nh-d14 so its a little cramped in their with that and the gtx 580, but otherwise it seems ok. Guess I could be wrong about that too, but from what I do know about airflow my set up seems pretty optimal.

Because the infrastructure to operate the internet as we know it is expensive.

However, even up to tier-1 networking is basically just peer-to-peer routing and file sharing. So yes, its possible to have a world-wide "private" network hosted only by end users.

Why don't we? Features would be minimal compared to our current system. Adoption would be slow to non-existent.

will a lower battery voltage degrade phone performance?

My phone (Xperia S, about 2 years old) is slow.

I dont mean apps lagging (which happens too) but the entire system. The camera used to be super fast and i could take a photo within half a second of taking it out of my pocket, now i need to hold down the camera button for a few seconds for it to start or even start it manually from the icon and the UI lags, the homescreen lags too and might take a few seconds to load the few widgets and icons

I havent really changed the apps on it since the first setup, the only things that run in background are MangaRock, Whatsapp, GPSlogger and calendar (i checked) only the minimal amount of Gapps are installed for the playstore to work

Yes, if:
- You can solve the hidden node problem on your desired scale
- you can build the hardware for it (even if it's just SDR)
- you can write the drivers for it
- you can convince people to use it
and don't forget to convince your government to let you use your desired bandwidths

bonus points if you can do all of this over radio waves without leaking (sensitive?) information about your users.

It's probably not the output device (you've tried multiple devices and they all experience the same issue).
It's probably not the output port (you've tried multiple ports).
It's probably not the settings (if you tinkered with it and broke it, presumably the first thing you'd try is undoing your alterations - and reinstalling the driver would fix it anyway).
It's probably not the driver (you've reinstalled it and the OS).

You're probably using an integrated sound card and it may be shitting itself. Good news: PCIe sound cards are cheap as dirt.
Bad news: it still costs money and you'll have to wait for shipping and install it yourself (hopefully you're more tech-sauvy than my grandfather's corpse).

SP (static pressure) fans are supposed to push air harder. i.e. they can perform better with radiators in front of them or other obstructions like a HDD cage.

AF (air flow) fans are supposed to push as much air as possible into the case.

JayzTwoCents has a good video on the topic.

>How to position them
How you position them is entirely up to you, but you'll want to aim for a positive pressure setup (more blowing in, rather than out).

>is it just marketing?
Partly.

I was thinking of getting a 144Hz monitor but i am confused about screen tearing, i thought that tearing only occurred
when the fps is higher than the monitors refresh rate but now i read somewhere that it can also be the other way around.

So let's say that i have a 144Hz monitor and i run most of my games at least above 100 fps, i have a 980ti so at least for now it's usually no problem,
but if i play an especially demanding game or a new game in the future and my fps drop to let's say 60-70, am i going to notice
the same tearing as i notice when i run a game at 100 fps on a 60Hz monitor?

The way vsync works is if the refresh rate is 60hz but the gpu only manages 58 then it will drop to 30hz to prevent tearing. I'm not sure which steps the 144hz monitors can drop down to, I imagine not straight to 30.

Microsoft's updated EULA basically says that you give up any right you have to privacy. I had to google for exact wording, but here you go:

>Finally, we will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary.
>Rather than residing as a static software program on your device, key components of Windows are cloud-based. … In order to provide this computing experience, we collect data about you, your device, and the way you use Windows.

Unfortunately this applies to every version of Windows, not just Win10. So if you're using Win7 or Win8, KB patches went out soon after the EULA got updated which allows MS to record every keystroke and send back data on every file you have.

The new EULA has pushed many people over the edge to at least give Linux a try by dual booting. In my book, that sealed Windows's fate to being solely a gaming platform.

except that it is quite different. file management buttons are stupid, windows snapping is forced and silly, and you can't even change the window border's color anymore, you're stuck with eye-penetrating white.

Yes, datamining happens on previous versions of Windows but never at this scale. There are tools to prevent it tho (Spybot anti beacon).

If you really, really want DX12 go for Windows10 (plus Classic shell and anti beacon) In any other case choose another OS.

Okay so when working in a shell in linux...When you log in, the scripts that run assign global and local environment variables to be used by the system, and by the newly logged into user account. My three questions:

1. Why not just make everything a global variable? for security reasons?

2. A local variable doesn't exist in "sub shells" what does this mean? What are some examples of processes creating sub-shells where this would be a problem?

3. When I'm in a bash shell, and I run a script, which in turn calls commands. Do those commands count as sub-shells? I think I may be confusing the idea of a shell with a terminal/tty

Something fucking weird has been happening since I bought this board to replace my dead MSI 970 board.

>at the 8350's stock clocks and voltages, it boots fine
>push it past 4.4GHz and at any voltage, it will try to boot, restart, then boot successfully and pass any prime95 test
>I don't think it's a bad OC, because it passes any stress test and it has never bluescreened or anything
>resetting the BIOS back to "optimised defaults" lets it boot fine, so I don't think the motherboard is dying or anything
>I've messed around with just about every setting in the BIOS and I can't get it to boot properly when the CPU goes past 4.4GHz

Any ideas? I usually have the 8350 at 4.6GHz 1.464V and it performs perfectly, but I'm getting tired of it restarting itself half way through booting up, every time I start the computer.

So I saved up some money and a Christmas bonus from work, and now I want to buy a new computer to play games and do simple video editing for University. I want to be able to upgrade it in a few years without having to change too much, so I'm going for a build with CPU socket 1151 and DDR4.
Pic related is a bunch of parts I picked so far, but I'm not sure on all of them. The i5-6600K seems like a reasonable choice for a CPU with OCing potential, I was recommended the MSI GTX 970 graphics card by my boss, and most of the other parts are basically picked on a whim. What I need most help with are finding proper RAM, a good 1151 socket mainboard, and a halfway decent hard drive (preferably with 2-3 TB storage, and under no circumstances less than 7200rpm). I already have an SSD and a 27" screen with 1920*1200 resolution.
What's important is that, because of my current living situation, I'll need to have a way to connect to Wi-Fi with it as well. I'm not sure if I should get a mainboard with built-in Wifi, a PCIe Wifi adapter, or a USB-based one. What would you guys recommend? My total budget is around 1200€.

If it's your ISP blocking the site then you have bigger problems.

>>52193766
in most shells all variables are global. Maybe you mean exporting variables (to subshells)?

variables aren't exported by default because variables from an interactive shell usually make no sense in a script shell. Aliases and your funky functions and variables are not portable and cannot be relied on. They're not used because they may give output that the script doesn't expect.

If you run your script with `sh hack.sh`, you get a subshell, if you have the `#!/bin/sh` shebang on your script and you run it with ./hack.sh, you get a subshell. If you source your script (`. hack.sh`), you DON'T get a subshell.

Normally the independent commands in your script aren't all in a subshell of their own, they're in the shell that runs the script.

The TTY is just the screen you run your interactive shell in, the shell is the program that understands the commands.
You could run another program in your TTY, and it wouldn't neccesarily be a shell or even run commands.

>>52194271
A qcow2 image is just a virtual HDD. If it has an OS installed that should be all you need to run the VM, but the OS on that qcow2 drive may expect certain hardware to be present. The qcow2 image does not store information about what other hardware the VM used to run (unless the OS stores that information on disk).

I'd try to run the VM on the qcow2 image with: qemu-sytem-i386 -drive image.qcow2,if=ide
If it doesn't work, you can try different -cpu architectures, displays, etc.

The site admin may have blocked your IP address or IP block because of misconduct, if you've never visited the site then it's just that your ISP rotated you a bad one, or all of your neighbours are in a botnet (given that you aren't in one). If you're worried about "ban evasion": don't be. You were not the miscoduct culprit, just get in touch with their support.
If the tor exit nodes are getting blocked while you're using it then the site owner doesn't like the way your browser behaves, and I'd suspect it to be infected.

It stops because it gets the element by ID and there can only be one element with that ID. If you want more elements to do the thing, change the css and javascript to use class rather than id.

Just post the name and model of the laptop. You can find out for sure so easily

Why does this card says "overclocked". I don't want something that will heat my budget pc too much.
Also should I get this one or wait another week for the Sapphire to be in stock?

Do they sell a regular version then?

Will this "overclocked card" be less durable or hotter than the sapphire card?
>>
>>52195172
>buy overclocked card
>underclock it to stock and lower the voltage
>have same performance but lower temps
overclocked cards are binned better so they are more efficient
>>
>>52195298
>Do they sell a regular version then?
Yes.

>Will this "overclocked card" be less durable or hotter than the sapphire card?
No. Not at all. It's overclocked to a point which is still 100% certified by them, to still work fully. It won't die faster or run hotter.
>>
>>52195298
>OC
that card is also overclocked.

but you're being retarded if you think that makes a difference.
factory overclocked cards usually come with better coolers, and they're so fucking low performance anyway that they barely generate any heat at all so it doesnt even matter.

>>52195320
>more efficient
higher binning doesnt change the fucking efficiency of the core architecture... it's just better silicone letting it reach higher volts and frequency.
>>
>>52195298
With a card that shit, it's really not going to make a difference. The OC card isn't going to be massively superior to a stock card, because the whole thing is weak.

get a 370 or 270X instead.

Thanks bro. So I tried it and the one that was working stopped too, what I did is change all the getElementById to getElementByNameClass and the div id to div class. Did I do wrong or is there something else to modify? Sorry for the basic questions

I spilled beer down the left side of my thinkpad t430. It got onto the motherboard and other fru's. How do you recommend I clean them?

RAID10 or RAID Z1? Awfully tempted to go for the extra space provided by Z1, but if I use mirrors, I can fail 2 disks at a time.

My IP address is incorrect? it's assigned my IP to 98.192.XXX.XXX whihc is in Panama City, FL. Which isn't right at all. I have a domain name that's supposed to resolve to my computer and it won't. I'm pretty much IP spoofing, and I want it to stop.

The CSS has a selector with a `#`, that indicates the ID. change it to a dot.
