>Myerson claims "Windows 10 collects information so the product will work better for you," and that "you are in control with the ability to determine what information is collected."
if I was in control, I'd be able to turn it off entir

>>Myerson reveals Microsoft doesn't collect content or files, and that the company takes "several steps to avoid collecting any information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address or account ID.
But the terms and conditions say that it will collect name, email, adress, credit card information, passwords and so on. He might be talking about enterprise customers who pay extra to only get a little of the botnet.
Microsoft still force people to sign away the right to any privacy and mention specifically the stuff I mention along with contacts, location information, interests, websites you visit and so on and so forth.
Don't be naive, they also claimed not to spy on people before they made people sign in the terms and conditions that they accept spyware. But when Snowden revealed the prism project we got to know that they have been spying all the time. Apple went all "alright, we spied a little, but we stopped now. Look how secure we made it! No you can't look at the code" while windows just went "yeah we spied, so what? Sign here... Now you told us that you do not have anything against spying which makes it legal to spy on you. We will of course do whatever we can to avoid spying on you'

Exactly how it will work better for me, I don't understand. I want a graphical user interface that allows me to launch applications that have been set into a simple logical order. I want it to install programs to the mass storage drive and I want them to work as the designer intended.
I don't want anything from the operating system but a clean graphical user interface, compatibility and stableness. I don't need it to suggest me where to eat based on my location. I don't want it wasting processing power for something as useless as trying to create me a playlist based on what I've been listening to. I want to turn that off. I don't want it.
I think most people want exactly what I want.

>Myerson reveals Microsoft doesn't collect content or files
That's what I wanted to hear.
BRB, installing W10.
>Microsoft states in its official privacy policy: "We do not use what you say in email, chat, video calls or voice mail, or your documents, photos or other personal files to target ads to you."
>to target ads to you.
Notice how they word it, it means they collect all this, they just don't collect it to target ads towards you.

Daily reminder that windows 10 is malware and /g/ is full of shills doing damage control
dont even reply to these threads, just sage them

No, they turn it over to the government, as per their mandatory PRISM compliance.

>"you are in control with the ability to determine what information is collected." There is no spyware I swear!!!
top kek the PR aren't even trying anymore.
>>52189343
Yeah then later they can just change around the policy and do whatever the fuck they want.
>you're in control
>turn off everything using GUI like a good user
>cortana still talking to the internet when I try to do local searches
uninstalled

>You are in control with the ability to determine what information is collected.
Why can't I turn off telemetry then?
My options are "Basic" "Enhanced" and "Full"
If I was in control I would be able to say "off"
Conspicuously missing is "OFF"
Tbh senpaitachi I trust Microsoft out of habit. I'm so used to them being synonymous to the computer era. It would take much more to shake that warm fuzzy feeling for me

The "myerson reveals..." stuff are the only things sent at the basic reporting level
The stuff that would be sent when a piece of software asks "send crash report?" is what's being sent on Basic

Stop getting triggered
The very fact that they have to 'avoid collecting' certain data means they have the capabilities to collect it. And that 'accidentally' collecting the data happens often enough to do something about it.
But identifying information is in the eyes of the beholder, they will collect everything they need to slice you up and sell you to their customers.
>>52189343
>it means they collect all this, they just don't collect it to target ads towards you.
But due to CISA they CAN sell it to other companies that DO target ads without your consent. Even though they don't use it to target ads themselves.

What sort of tinfoil hat wearing looney would have belived they collected any of that? It's not like Linux where the NSA, CIA & FBI have been funding much of the devolopment for the last three decades.
