Where do you see GNU/Linux in 15 years?

Running the most complex systems on earth, same as now.

Windows will be a gayming OS and everyone else will be using some derivative of Debian.

Everywhere. Android will replace Windows as the retard-proof desk monkey OS and Windows will die, albeit slowly. MS is going the way of IBM.

Calling it - screenshot this shit because it'll come true in 2030.

Yes

>Windows will be a gayming OS and everyone else will be using some derivative of Debian
I sincerely doubt this. Windows isn't vanishing from the corporate world anytime soon. And Debian isn't going to be the distro, or even the base of a disto, that ushers in the actual era of the linux desktop.

*running the most complex servers on Earth
all professionals will either be locked into 20 year old windows software with thinkpads or using a macbook with OS X like the rest of the goddamn business/higher academia world.

Oh, and it will never truly be the "year of the Linux desktop". Granted, it's been the "year of the linux desktop" since about 2010 or whenever Android jelly bean came out. Android replaced Windows as the OS that people use most often, so technically Linux has become dominant.

There won't be some grand awakening where people suddenly realize the importance of open source software; they are ignorant on purpose in this regard because of social conditioning. People are actively hostile towards things that intimidate them.

Just a memory of the time when computers where common place and governments still existed. A great time when Linux ruled the OS world briefly before the unstoppable bacterial diseases set in and antibiotics were unable to work anymore. Humans that are left look back with disdain for their ancestors who would trade their liberties for a false sense of security, but overall they are much happier knowing that the slave masters are long gone and none will every have to refer to themselves as NEET again.

It's already dead, bloated, and smelling bad.
I'm waiting on something new to come along.

Probably the same place it is now, but a little nicer. Until OEMs start shipping it default on new systems it isn't going to get very far in the consumer market, maybe more adopted in enterprise on the desktop end though.

>>52185628
Maybe if Android becomes a fully-fledged desktop operating system. Even the desk monkey bogeyman still likes things like multitasking, real software, real keys and buttons, and multiple monitors.

Still irrelevant.

IBM is still one of the biggest tech companies in the world. Why are linux users so disconnected from the world in general?

On Mars.

everything is a glossy icon
even the subpixel icons

like KDE but far worse

Dead and forgotten after Microsoft/Linux is released. All the we use it because it's not Microsoft (99.99999999% of current Linux users) will have moved to something else or died of vitamin d deficiency.

2031 will be the year of linux on the desktop.

Don't make me cry anon

With the ever eroding market share of traditional desktops and laptops, I see the market returning to an equilibrium akin to UNIX workstations in the 80s and 90s. The new home systems will be outgrowths of Android and iOS. Once consumer PC hardware becomes completely unprofitable for the OEMs (which is inevitable given the race to the bottom dynamics of the industry) they'll tell Microsoft to take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut. Businesses will either buy their own volume licenses directly from Microsoft or use Linux. This and a cross distribution binary-compatible package format (xdg-app) will make Linux the dominant OS, with OS X a laggard second place as usual.

tl;dr Microsoft is dying and Linux is holding steady and the trend lines will cross before 2031.
