>people that call their case a "tower"
>>52182143
It's a widely used term. It's also used in the sense of explaining how big your case is, full tower, medium tower, small tower, mini tower.
Omg, is this really what /g/ thinks is fitting for a discussion?
>>52182205
I agree, let's change to a more /g/-related topic.

Usually I'm against ridiculous stuff but THIS is not a bad one IF it's a tower. Otherwise yeah, it's the PC.
It is not just a case, though, it is the case and its guts. If one were to say "I spent a thousand dollars on this new case I got on black friday", they would sound fucktarded, hence calling it a "tower".

This argument is fucktarded. Can't believe you posted it.
>I spent 1000 on this computer

It's legacy, fuck off.
I can understand this. You rarely hear the word "computer case" outside of PC building. And using the term may bring imagery of an empty case. So for tech illiterate people it's hard to find a decent term to use. Most of them end up calling it a "hard drive" or a "modem", which are obviously inaccurate, but at least you can communicate to them with the terms. I've found that the most universally understood is "computer box". If you're doing tech support people will probably understand the difference between "computer box" and "computer screen" when you're describing things to them.
>>52182143
>people that call their screen a "monitor"
like what the fuck does it even monitor
>people that use dank white girl memes from twitter
>>52187725
What are you talking about? The argument was that "tower" is not synonymous with "case", which is the contrary to what OP was implying. This is not about whether or not the term "tower" is redundant in this context.
But if you really want someone to respond to your attacking that strawman you set up for yourself, "tower" is one syllable less than "computer", so the term is not entirely redundant in that regard.
