So pic related happened to my 5 year old Acer Travelmate 5744. Is it fucked, or is it a simple cable/lcd remount? This is the first time I've dealt with Acer laptops, so have no idea.

Screens are dirt fucking cheap. Get one for like $45 and replace the current panel. You can try re-plugging the ribbon cable, but it looks like a flaw with the screen. Normally loose cables make the whole screen shift in color or create artifacts across the entire panel, not just a small section.
