Nah, they were just too impractical to be honest. Physical keyboards make you type slower and cause more thumb strain. In addition the battery capacity had to be sacrificed for the slide out keyboard thing.

Yeah, all auto correct functions slow you down and only make it easier to make mistakes.
You can get fast at touch typing on a touch screen phone but it takes time. The same rules apply to phones when you touch type so you have to get used to not looking at the keys that you tap.
I think larger phones probably help you type faster in the long run due to how wide each key is. Hope my assumption is right because I'm looking to upgrade to a 5.5" phone soon.
