Thoughts on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3?
Upgrading from a HTC One M7 with signal problems, and looking for a cheap phone with good performance and aesthetics.

got a 5 start 'editors choice' rating from Android Authority and they don't seem to be biased. Also that 2ghz processor sounds awesome and MiUI is meant to be good too.

Yeah, I haven't heard many bad things about the phone, apart from the fact that Xiaomi probably won't be upgrading it to Android 6.0 - which doesn't seem like too much of a big deal. Also, I've always wanted to put a MiUI based ROM on my handsets.
>>
I'm holding out for the Mi5
The rapid release of the Redmi Note 3 from the Redmi Note 2 concerns me.
>>

It was more of a 'premium design' upgrade, the big difference was the metal body as opposed to the plastic one
>>
>>52178436
Eh. I was so close so buying the 2 and to see the 3 come out within a couple months made me feel uneasy.
>>
>>52178379
The Mi5 does seem promising, if the price here isn't out of my range then I may look into buying one
>>

>5.5"
>no US LTE bands

Into the trash it goes

MIUI is in beta for 6.0 for Mi 3, 4 and Note now.

I was a fan of MIUI but they get worse by the day. Barely release kernel sources, enough OS Internet connectivity to her suspicious, and now they're going to default to lock bootloaders, need to sign in with Xiaomi account to unlock.

Not from the US, UK here, and it only doesn't support one of the three 4G LTE bands for my provider, and I won't need to use that service that much when out, and will be using Wi-Fi the majority of the time.
Why is 5.5" a problem?

>everyone has small hands and uses mobile data
>>
>>52178591
Yeah, I heard about that - which is the only downfall that I see in the device - I would prefer a more stock feel too
>>
>>52178611
where are you buying it from? I'm a Britfag too (unfortunately) and can't find anywhere that stocks them that's not based in China, fuck that.
>>
>>52178645
I was going to look more into it beforehand, but I saw some on Amazon - not sure where they're based though
>>
>>52178645
Not him but these type of things are usually bought from ali express, it's actually a good website bar the delivery times.

You were supposed to have bought it impulsively :-(

I was going to buy the Redmi Note 3 but I'm going to hold out for the Mi 5. It may be releasing at the end of this month

Here's some rumored specs:
>2.5D curved display (i dont know what this means)
>5.3" 1440x2560 (or 1080x1920) display
>3D Touch technology on the display
>3D glass covering back panel (?)
>Snapdragon 820
>3GB/4GB RAM (32GB/64GB ROM)
>16MP rear, 13MP front
>MiUI for Android 6.0
>3600mAh with quick charge 3

It's set at around $310 USD

2.5D means the whole face is glass with a round edge. Looks pretty nice and this phone pictured has it (5.0" 720p 95% ntcs).
>>
>>52178916
Oh, alright thanks
>>52178196
By the way, there's going to be a snapdragon 808 version of this phone coming out. The current mediatek version has a locked boot loader.
>>
>>52178986
Ah, that's good to hear, didn't like that it wasn't unlocked. But, will the Snapdragon 808 be a good performer? And will it change the price?

>>52178786
Yeah, looking into it the Mi 5 does seem pretty good - and I should be able to hold onto my current phone until then; the only problem is that I can only contact people over Wi-Fi on this.
