i actually got swept up in the marketing and the announcement that Microsoft did when they first announced these devices. they have great hype men. I really wanted it but ot be honest with ya I couldn't justify the price so I ended up buying a ThinkPad x230t instead. This thing is a little too heavy to be just using it as a tablet but the stylus was what I really wanted to buy this thing for. It is a heavy tablet, great laptop and pretty awesome OneNote machine.

I can somewhat confirm this. Grabbing the base in the front corner to move it around like you would any other laptop takes some getting use to as the weight it mostly in the screen/tablet.
While it seems somewhat flimsy, it's rather secure. I'm actually more worried about breaking it when detaching the screen.

Honestly I like the idea. However, it being so bloody expensive for only having (the highest end version) GT 950 or worse GPU isn't acceptable. I can only hope they make a "gaming" version that is more like the "luxury gaming" notebooks from Asus/MSI/Sager/ Razer that is both relatively thin/luxury materials for really powerful hardware inside.
The build of a Surface Book, with the mobo/CPU/RAM etc.. in the "tablet" part but the "dock" part having the discrete GPU, keyboard, and extended battery etc.. is bloody PERFECT for making a powerful gaming laptop that is also pretty damn portable. Take the time to put the cooling on the bottom for the higher grade GPU! Hell, make the bottom of it a little thicker or whatever and put in a GTX 970 at least or 980 Ti 8gb grade mobile GPU in there. That would be an amazing design. Otherwise, why even bother with a $2000+ notebook with a "discrete" GPU that is barely better than an integrated one.

I nearly bought one but after playing around with it in a store, I didn't think it was durable to handle all the traveling I do. Plus it's pretty crazy expensive for the specs offered. I went with a Thinkpad T450s instead.
