New battery case, for car dudes!
Does anyone actually wonder if this is proof of their down fall? What do you think their next misstep will be?
>>52175991
To be honest the case doesn't look that bad, its just the principle of paying to have acceptable battery life when they made the phone so thin in the first place.
>>52176018

Zealots will (and do) claim that literally everything is proof of their antagonist's downfall. I bet if archives went back to around 2009/2010 you'd see that zealots on /g/ were predicting that the iPad was proof that Apple had lost its way. The same was true of literally every iPhone and the MBA and practically every other device they announced and/or updated.
For a VERY long time, /g/ was full of people who honestly seemed not to understand the idea of a rMBP and how the screen handled scaling. They would talk about how stupid 2880x1800 is on a 15" display because the mouse would be too small to see, etc...
This is the kind of delusional irrationality you're dealing with when you deal with a zealot; everything is proof of their downfall, and nothing ever proves to be so.
That being said, I think the battery pack is pretty ugly, and I would much rather a case try to keep the same general form (or silhouette?) as the host device. That means making the whole back flat, even if it means adding a few millimeters to the whole device's depth, would be preferable to a camel hump sort of thing.
>>52176138
in the time it took you to write, spell check, upload and post your "opinion" they made more money than you will in your entire lifetime.
and you're shilling for them totally for free...
>>52176103
I think apple fans and anti-apple zealots are pretty much in agreement on this. i honestly think that the people defending it (at least the fervent ones) are just trolling.
there are folks who are saying it doesn't bother them much, and I buy that those people are "real", but apologists are not new to any entrenched argument.

>advertise how thin ours phones are
>give them shit battery life
>sell an external battery pack that double the thickness of the phone
Should have just made a thicker phone.
>>52176018
>doesn't look that bad
Mate, it's a fucking lump on the back of a phone. It even extends the ridicoulus size of the phone in height. It looks like a fucking fisher-price-tier toy.
>>52176270
nobody until now has complained about the height. the objectionable part is the hump. every battery pack case extends height pretty much in this way.
>>52175991

>>52176205

It's still better than most android phones lmao
>>52176319
source? Apple probably paid for the article.
iPhones are famously bad for battery life, all the normies even agree with their memes.
Fast phones though pham.
>>52176369
do you really not recognize the anandtech logo?
I'm pretty sure a handful of other sites that bother to record battery lives of myriad devices report more or less the same things. They may not all report the same numbers, but (again, roughly) similar rankings.
>>52175991
I prefer this design over the huge bricks like Mophie makes. I had a replacement back like this for my Galaxy S2 and it was a lot nicer than the ones that made the whole back larger for no reason.

The whole idea of a battery case seems bad to me, but if you're going to do it, this is much better than the ones like mophie that bulk up the areas with no battery.

The point of this thing is that its much easier to slip on and off than other cases.
I don't get the fuzz at all.
>>52176450
I feel like I framed the discussion clearly enough with the
>sites that bother to record battery lives of myriad devices
part. the guardian isn't even primarily in the business of reviewing tech devices, and the verge doesn't show comparisons at all. "Battery life could be better" applies to literally everything with a battery.
This screenshot surveying iphone 6 battery life and comparisons shows the highlighted bar (usually the iphone 6) pretty consistently shows up in the top half. I could go scouring every one of these reviews to post the sources for you, but a cursory glance says that battery life is around middle of the pack or better, and I don't think it's controversial from this skim.
>>52176562
Mophie has twice the capacity, cost the same, is just as easy to install, and looks way better.
If an apple logo is ypur main consideration then maybe you should just slap a vinyl sticker on a mophie.

>>52176707
Where do you see this?
My chart above says otherwise, by a large margin.
>>52176657
1) that's not what I said at all; I said that the iPhone tends to come in around the middle of the pack or better, so unless you're saying that all android phones have >4100 mAh batteries, you're trying to make some insanely retarded claim about the android device with the biggest battery representing the entire range of android devices.
2) I'm pretty sure that my bike light's battery lasts longer than a smartphone's battery. making a one-dimensional claim the way you did is retarded unless you qualify it by taking into account that the iPhone is lower-powered.

Battery benchmarks made by "professionals" are simply a race in which wins the company who shills and pay more. Why is it a fail?
One piece design so there's no cap to lose.
Battery doesn't block the antenna, plus contains passive antennas to help with the signal.
Informs the phone that it's plugged into a battery, so unnecessary background processes aren't activated.
Apple chooses form over function and faggots lose their shit. Apple does something that leans in the opposite direction, and faggots still lose their shit.
