My computer was built by me and my older brother and it has been running very well for almost a whole year. Very recently, however, while my brother was playing a game the screen became distorted and it has become very hard to read or play anything. I have cleaned the inside of the computer of all dust, and have also unplugged and replugged everything and the problem persists. Any ideas or suggestions?

You've got your answer, but so help me god if you used anything other than a can of compressed air to clean out your computer, I'm gonna be disappointed in you.

>buying compressed air

Buy a small air compressor, fagtron. Why you would pay for air in a can is beyond me.

Try to delete and reinstall the drivers.
I solved the issue on the computer in my lab who had a similar problem. (strange pattern like you. And eventually blue screen).

there is a cold joint on your graphics card and it can be easily fixed. put the card in the baking oven for a few minutes. it will reflow cracked solder joints. unfortunately it is not a permanent fix so it has to be repeated again in a few months. this is a legit process for fixing proprietary or very expensive hardware that can't be replaced. do your own research about this, there are plenty of resources online.
