It's 2016, /g/. What are your predictions for the next 366 days? Anything goes as long as it's related to technology.
>>

oracle will sue itself
blackberry will start selling iOS phones to nobody and somehow not go bankrupt for another year

>>
It'll be the year of barely reported security breaches.
>>
>VR will literally explode, including hourly shill threads.
>Apple will have a shit year. Hallelujah.
>Much more advancement in self-driving cars with more companies showing off their versions. None will be ready to be sold yet.
>We will finally see /tech/ for consumer electronics retards and Merchant shills. Long awaited.
>Google will become even more powerful, but 98% of people won't give two shits. No change there, really.
>Anti-adblock Merchants will furiously try to protect their shekels. This will become a big deal in 2016. New ways to advertise will emerge. MOre ways to block those ads will be created.
>Copyright lawsuits will start becoming commonplace. Better fire up those VPNs, goyim!
>>

>Apple will buy Nintendo

No. Apple can't afford Nintendo. Sure, they may have the cash but the costs associated with absorption and not to mention the cultural differences are a risk no company can afford.

I'd think they'd sooner go after Sony, and even then they'd probably leave the gaming division on the table.

We'll finally get a genuinely good browser
>>
>>52168403
What browser would that be?

>inb4 Vivaldi
>>
>>52168422
No one knows yet

It will seemingly come out of no where, not a fork either

A fully independent browser to sweep away the rest

wearable tech starts to become a thing. /g/ shills like no tomorrow.

The oculus rift will be terrible, Facebook oriented garbage. Millions will buy it.

Apple Watch 2 is released. The largest ass-anger will ensue when those customers who bought the $10,000 Edition won't be able to upgrade to the new watch, and must purchase another.

New AMD/Nvidia cards come out. It's rebrands with slight, incremental performance upgrades. 5.5GB/6.0GB controversy.

People who still use 1st-2nd generation Intel Core CPUs still have no reason to upgrade.
>>
Flexible displays that wrap around your arm coming Q3
>>
>>52167580
This year will pass much like any other year.
Iteration upon iteration upon iteration.

On a serious note, I'm crossing my fingers that the cost of 980ti's will drop when the new cards come out, so I can get a second one.

I'm also hoping that the price of DDR4 will go down some more, so I can buy some more, I can't justify it until the modules actually fall in price though, I have enough right now.

The price of SSD's should continue to fall, which is great because I want another SSD at some point.

Also if I'm clever with my money, today might be the year I finally get around to building that NAS I've always wanted.

>We will finally see /tech/ for consumer electronics retards and Merchant shills. Long awaited.

oh yes please

I predict some giant cloud fuckup where a big amount of data leaks. Oh wait, that already happened.
>>
>>52167605
>oracle will sue itself
jej
>>
Microsoft will continue pushing Windows X, which will be succesfull for the first part of the year, until it is overshadowed by plan9 version V, which will account for 70% of the desktop and mobile market by the end of the year.
>>

>Anti-adblock Merchants will furiously try to protect their shekels. This will become a big deal in 2016.
I think this is probably the most important prediction you have here.
I share conviction in the rest of your predictions apart from the increase in copyright lawsuits.
The legal system is too... human to do that. If we see an increase it will be in automated fining systems. Like ISP-level fines, produce automatically.
Or, given the lack of net neutrality, 'piracy charge'.

Anyway, anti-adblock:
The jews are going to hammer adblocks hard. Adblocks costing billions of dollars and shit- PREEMPT THEM.
We KNOW this is coming. Hell it already started. Contact your local politicians, tell them if they hear about how 'adblock is costing a bajillion dollars' tell them it's also PROTECTING USERS FROM MALICIOUS ADVERTISEMENTS FROM THE CRIMINAL SECTOR, and saving money overall. Adblock protects consumers, while slightly damaging corporations. Adblock is the difference between your grandma's bank account getting drained and not. It's the difference between cryptolocker and having your files.
It also costs google a couple percent off its bottom line. Boo fucking hoo.

>No one will play VR for the first half of the year because no onr has the machines needed to run it
>Several VR companies will go bankrupt as a result
>Microsoft Hololens will be shit. Everyone laughs
>Apple will release another iPhone with a glaring hardware issue. Everyone laughs
>Google Fiber announces they will be installing in Idaho, Wyoming and Alaska
>The next startup company with a 1 billion dollar valuation is created: an app that delivers hoverboard fails to your current position
>>
>predictions for '16

I will hear the phrase 'windows ten will work eventually' again.

people will continue using broken shit.
>>
>>52168674
My Windows 10 works fine desu.
I haven't been this happy with a Microsoft product since XP. True story.
>>
>>52168665
>>Apple will release another iPhone with a glaring hardware issue. Everyone laughs

you mean everyone loves it
>>
>>52168716
The reviewers better "love" it, or they won't get any more test units from Apple :^)
>>
>Smartphone internal tech will slow down and will most likely wait for new display techs/portable tech. innovations before booming once again. USB Type-C is hinted as one game changer.
>Wireless headsets will continually improve and become cheaper, possibly matching up to their wired counterparts.
>>
>>52168612
Third party anti-adblock script makers are already booming. I'll be genuinely surprised if some dude actually makes an something that goes against noscript.
>>
>>52168916
Those are some interesting predictions Anon.
I think smartphones are going to stagnate, they've gotten way too reliant on mobile data, and there's only so much bandwidth to be had. We're heading for a situation where the bottleneck on mobile data performance is a lack of space in the air. Which is bucking fonkers. We need new wireless transmission technologies to overcome this hurdle, my eye is on quantum entanglement, it has been accomplished in a lab, god knows when it'll become a consumer thing.

I'll still never own a wireless headset, or keyboard, or mouse. Wireless means batteries, and fuck me I hate having to manage a whole bunch of batteries. Fuck batteries. QE might fix that too, it's not outside the bounds of possibility to transmit power over a QE link.
>>
>>52168665
I'm eventually waiting for the tons of VR fails like running into walls, losing their balance, or banging their heads everywhere.

Best bet is that VR games will most likely start off with indie stuff like that one bomb game.
>>
>>52168431
>2016
>fully independent anything
>>
>>52168496
>xyz will be terrible
>millions will buy it

Unthinkable 20 years ago (see Virtual Boy). A thing being terrible used to mean hardly anyone would buy it.
>>
>>52168688
Enjoy the surveill- ehem, telemetry.
>>
>no VR
>no wearable technology
>no current wearable technology gets popular
>no self-driving cars
>just a thinner iphone
>>
>>52170050
I'm not doing anything illegal on that machine, and microsoft can spend as much time rifling through my porn as they please, at the end of the day they'll be the ones in therapy.
It's a gaymen machine, my laptop runs windows 8.1 because it's basically just a shitposting machine, and I have another junker machine running XP that does everything else.

Come at me bro
>>
OS X on all intel chips? OEM hardware? apple is currently 'the iPhone company'.

i hate seeing plebs run a non-unix system. it's so painful.

>Windows X
>OS X
how can we pressure Apple? it's not like the years of the linux desktop. os x is 7%, linux, 2%.
>>
>>52170151
>no self-driving cars

There will never be self-driving cars, not in our lifetime anyway. Musk is just full of crap.

NOKIA MAKES A BIG COMEBACK
>>
>>52167580
For phones this will be the year of "MUH 3D TOUCH". Also chink shit will explode in popularity even further that carriers will consider holding them. Plus HTC goes bankrupt because of their own autistic decisions. Blackberry will finally be a viable option.
>>
Ubuntu will go full Jew mode either allowing NSA backdoors or going proprietary.

PSN gets hacked at all time low rates of 30 times a week because hackers are fighting ISIS now.

The NSA gives their pet boy Snowden something else to release to make people scared and download Linix Distros which they have full control over.
>>
>>52168716
Nah at this point people are noticing Apple's bullshit since an iphone doesn't have the same social status as before.
>>
>>52170287
There in too deep. Microsoft nuked the shit out of them
>>
>>52170287

Weren't they supposed to launch a tablet in 2015? What happened to that?
