We will know in 6 days, at CES

Im looking forward to whatever one is cheaper and supports more games. Since oculus is only sdds on support to games in house . The htc or sony ones look more promising.

Oculus is owned by Facebook, so if you have even an ounce of brain, then you will steer clear.

kek

HTC are a sinking ship my friend, they've already fired a bunch of people and started buying back their own shares to keep the price from tanking
>>
>>52165073
buying back your own shares is typically not something a company does before they go bankrupt, the reason being is that creditors are first in line for the money and shareholders eat the loss. If anything it means they think their stock is undervalued compared to what they predict it to become.
>>
>>52165073
>but they just made a technological breakthrough regarding VR

Faceboculus shills on full defense force mode. Fucking kek. Valve is going to crush your ass.

Keep shitposting m8, you totally proved your point. No one gives a shit about your gimped oculus.
>>
>>52165123

I'm not saying they'll go bankrupt, they can still survive for a while but they posted big losses in Q2 and Q3 this year and their revenue is down significantly since last year. Let's wait and see how Q4 has been treating for them
>>
>>52165267
It doesn't matter. HTC is only a piece of the puzzle, and their overall success is not going to have an impact on the Vive. Valve would not let them die like that and they would not have partnered with HTC if they weren't capable. Even if somehow HTC miraculously goes bankrupt, their VR division would probably split out or get bought.
>>
>>52165312

Again, I'm not saying they're going bankrupt. All I said is that they won't be competing with other headsets on price. Facebook and Sony can easily sell at a loss, HTC can't
>>
>>52165374
You're forgetting Valve in all of this. They have enough ability to subsidize the Vive for us. HTC doesn't matter.
>>
>>52162352
no more than $500, preferably $400. $150 max for touch controllers.
Vive will be releasing with motion controllers bundled earlier however and their lighthouse base stations require no USB3.0 ports.

I am on the fence at the moment, rift launches much earlier with 2 titles and an xbox controller.
I'd have to wait longer and possibly pay more for HTC Vive the advantage is not having to worry about being vendor locked by oculus home should I want to buy a different HMD in the future.

I like the oculus touch controllers more and HTCs PR has been a mess lately. I think I'll get oculus, they seem to know what they are doing.

I'm not going to get my hopes up, I won't be surprised if it turns out to be a load of hot air.
At any rate we shall wait and see what this technological breakthrough is in less than a weeks time.

If it is so grand a breakthrough that it gives them a severe advantage over the competition worth the wait and price tag then so be it. I am getting sick and tired of waiting, they will probably stall on price and spilling the beans on specifics as well or promise the world with misleading statements and under deliver.
>>
>>52167193
The Vive already has a severe advantage over the competition even without the breakthrough. The oculus is just a gimped VR no excuses.
>>
>>52167193
Unless the breakthrough is games I doubt they'll ever surpass the competition.
>>
>>52167322
>even considering facebook/oculus

Fuck off shill.
>>
>>52167313
how so?
>similar resolution and display tech
>similar controller layout
>similar optics

The only major difference is the tracking system which is adequate on the rift but better on Vive (no USB3.0 ports for base stations, lower computation overhead since no image processing involved)

Aside from that Vive has a front facing camera meanwhile rift does not, and rift has better gesture recognition on their motion controllers.

The rift will likely cost less and launch a few months earlier without motion controllers, Vive will likely cost more but will be bundled with motion controllers which will likely beat oculus touch to the punch since oculus touch has been delayed to H2.
