I'm not sure what to do. Last year I built a new PC with a GTX 970 sc. I really want to get rid of it and upgrade to a 980ti, but I'm seeing the 970 being sold online for as low as $280. Would I be better off adding the same card I already have, sli, or just upgrading to a 6GB 980ti? I really want the latter, but if I'll see better performance going sli, it'll be cheaper anyway, and just the better option. Any advice would be appreciated.

sli if ur keepin 1080p

upgrade if ur going for 1440p or higher

i would recommend sli over a 980 ti given the soon-to-be-released pascal

I forgot to mention I am only @ 1080p, but I'm definitely interested in being 1440 or even 4K ready (don't exactly have the $ for a 4k monitor just yet.)

I wasn't sure how the dual 970s would fare with 4K

ITT: Why isn't my crappy video card worth as much as I bought it for?

If I spend enough money will my life be validated by Huang with a non-gimped card.

how will they fare?

not well ese, not well

the 3.5 vram thing can become a serious issue on any resolution higher than 1080p

it might not be what you wanted to hear but if you do plan on 1440p or higher i would recommend a different card instead of the 970

which then leads to the decision of whether you should go with your 980 ti choice or wait for pascal next year

3.5

Went from a GTX 970 to 980ti, shit is pretty nice. I am able to max out everything on more or less every game on my 1440p monitor (Only shit that causes issues is some of the gameworks shit and stuff like Arkham Knight) and 1080p on my TV is flawless more or less.

Granted, I decided to upgrade since I got the feeling the 970 would start to rapidly drop in price.

And im sitting here and be happy with a GTX 960

It actually is what I wanted to hear. I WANT a 980ti but if 2x 970s would be better I'd just go for that since I'm halfway there, and indeed, the prices have dropped quite a bit.

I'd also like to escape all this shit

>sell 970
>buy 980ti

is it really that hard?

Finding someone to buy the 970 seems to be...
