lol, it took me a while too

set your environment variables MPD_HOST and MPD_PORT to 127.0.0.1 and 6601 assuming that port works for you

bind_to_address "127.0.0.1"
port "6601"

killall mpd
mpd

then you should be fine to setup ncmpcpp or w/e client you're using on the same ports and music directory

Personally I use dwm, since it's functional and simple, but you probably won't be able to make the weeb desktops you see here with it.

I've heard good things about Xmonad and i3. If you're looking for non-tiling, someone else will have to advise you.

Openbox is a nice floating WM, but you can turn it into a tiling wm by installing pytyle.
i3 is an alright tiling wm. If you're using Arch, or have access to the AUR, you can install i3-gaps, which allows you to change the margins around the windows, and in between windows, without having to do much in terms of editing the config file

urxvt and ncmpcpp

you could try xrandr for your dual montior. Make sure you have the right video card drivers installed, for nvidia it should just werk (tm)

At least not for a person who doesn't know shit about coding. Literally install i3-gaps, and type "gaps inner <px>" and "gaps outer <px>" without quotes. It's easier for non-code monkeys

it's weird, before I start my WM (in terminal-land) my second monitor shows that it's not recieving any power. when i boot into my WM (startx) it suddently recieves power. also sometimes stuff is displayed on it when i boot up, while my prime monitor works normally. it says the usual arch boot up message
starting version 228
/dev/sda5: clean, 207095/5898240 files, 1779985/23592960 blocks"

while i'm using openbox it's never a pitch black, it always has some light to it like it's powered on. everything else acts like it doesn't exist. my xrandr:
http://pastebin.com/raw/mJjmuyfd
but basically the monitors are the same model and use VGA cables. i have these two vga to hdmi converters to plug them in. what i noticed (which may or may not matter) is that the one that works is connected to my video card while the other one is connected to my motherboard / intergrated gpu. not sure if that matters.

have another wallpaper as an offering of peace

It's probably because there are so many evaders in these threads, the mods got confused. Comes with the territory of an anonymous imageboard I suppose.

Take io shield.
Disconnect and remove mobo from case.
Snap io shield into place, you can tell you did it right if the io shield lines up with the motherboard ports and the io shield is firmly locked in.
Put mobo back in. Reconnect to power supply.
Done.

Sorry no. The io shield was made to snap into place from inside the case, unless you have an instruction manual that came with that case stating you can also stick it from the exterior.

no short circuiting your motherboard due to static discharge

hence the name "shield"

Mainly to keep dust out and to ground the motherboard by having the little fiddly bits touch the ports. Your PC is still okay without the io shield but it's not something a ricer should neglect.

both
take monitor 1 and plug it into the connections on the motherboard
take monitor 2 and plug it into the card.

either you already did that or the picture is wrongly illustrated
>>
>>52153038
>i-it's dangerous not to have one?

It isn't that dangerous, there are PCs from way back that didn't use the damn things or really cheap cases that shipped without one. But it's nice to have as a ward against dust and there is a risk of shorting if you don't have one.

I got seriously worried about dust after moving away from pre-builts and assembling my own PC, I dust at least twice in a month since it's dry and dusty where I am.

ok, all this did was reverse the roles of the monitor. monitor #1 is now useless and monitor #2 has all my shit. xrandr is exactly the same as it was. any ideas?
i tried booting with both monitors attached to the mobo, and it just resulted into both screens being 'useless'. when i boot up normally it does the starting version popup for a second then it sends me to the terminal. on 'useless' monitors it gets stuck at that stage.

honestly, i can hardly tell what is wrong due to this being such a rare case.

if that doesn't work, consider looking on the BIOS settings for graphics output priority (or something similar to that)

Anyone else that can't be bothered to rice anymore, but still enjoy going through these threads? Spent hundreds of hours of my life ricing to the max and all I received was a little self-satisfaction, impressing some of /g/ and /w/, and "Wow, anon. How do I use your computer?" from friends and family who occasionally use it.
>>
>>52153301
Should be a setting that allows output from both CPU and GPU in BIOS. By default when the GPU is installed it overrides the CPU graphics completely, but in some drop-down menu there should be a setting with "both" as an option.
