Oh shit I need new headphones. Pic related is mine.
>>
>>52150785
The Basstyle. I've seen people say it's basically a rebranded Takstar Pro80. The specs listed do seem different but that is most likely balogni.

You could also get a HyperX Cloud 1 and just remove the detachable microphone if you want to be safe as that's guaranteed Takstar Pro80 clone.

Never go below the M40X and I wouldn't get the Koss for those cheap tier earpads that come with it.
>>
>>52150897
ok... fill out the form sperg
>>
>>52150901
Looking at the specs, the Basstyle uses the same housing as the Pro 80 but different drivers so there's no guarantee it'll sound as good.

do you need active noise cancellation? if you do, those are literally the best ones available. if you dont, and especially if you dont even need closed and can get open instead, to take them back and come back with a budget

That sounds like active noise cancelling, so yeah, return them.

I don't need noise cancelling. Honest question, for those of you who don't live in big cities, are there any shops around you that sell truly great headphones? The shop in which these were bought in only offered Bose, Sennheiser Urbanites and some cheap shitty gimmicks.

Headphone noob here asking for advice.

Ok /g/ so i want to buy my first pair of decent headphones, i will primarily use them for muh gayming.
I mostly play RPG/JRPG(e.g.Witcher 3/Final Fantasy) and these genres have a lot of dialogues , i dont usually listen to music but i DO care about in-game soundtracks (boss fights for example).

So i'm looking for something that will be pleasing to hear when the soundtrack kicks in, but i also want detailed sound with clear mids/highs (i guess this is the flat sound signature? i dont know).
It is not a must but wireless would be a plus since i intend to use them far from my desk. It should have at least detachable cable though.

open is better in almost all cases other than the fact that it leaks sound out and sound leaks in

so if you live alone, get open, if you live with your parents, get closed

if you get closed, maybe look at DT770, Takstar Pro 80, m40x

if you get open, maybe look at HD558 & SHP9500

m40x are decently neutral, m50x are a lot more bassy, just like the d770s
80 ohms is the best if you don't have an amp, because it sounds better than the lower version and you need an amp for the higher one.
Even if you like bass, I'd still recommend the DT770 over the M50x

forgot this
it's basically as loud as you hear it.
Crude comparison, take off your headphones, point them at your ear and hold them further/walk away

that's similar to how it'll sound, because it's pretty much like speakers

it'll still be more quiet than actual speakers because you wouldn't use them as loud as actual speakers

I still have my Sony MDR-V6's from when I was in college (YEARS AGO) and they're still working great

AND THEY'RE $65
Only thing I've done is add leather ear pads.
10/10 purchase, and you'll have more $$$ than with the ATH M50X's

If you looooove AudioTechnica the M40X's are ~$80 on Amazon and barely sound different than the M50X's.

Don't waste your money, I love my MDR-V6's and you will too.
>>
>>52155400
I didn't know they existed, that's the reason.

The cost 30+ bucks but I really like how they're shaped.

I want to get something cheap because I can easily lose them and I work on a enviroment with a really high relative humidity so electronics can get easilly fucked up.

I am trying to decide between these >>52152266 and pistons v3.

Right now I am using Sennheiser CX870 that I bought for 50$, but they are a bit too sibilant for my taste.

I think I will like the V shaped sound of pistons 3. I dont want to end up with shittier headphones than my Sennheiser CX870, cause price is much lower for pistons. Also the sound engineers working in Sennheiser should be better and more experienced than the ones working on pistons.

AKG K702 + Fiio E10K is a super combo. I got them this morning and I've been listening to them the entire afternoon. I'm amazed by how good they sound together. If you have a powerful pc, you might be able to use the K702 even without an amp. I keep the Fiio knob at 2-4 and it sounds loud enough to me to hear the details I need. Trust me, the K702 has an immense potential. I'll probably write my impressions ome of these days and compare it with the Fidelio X2. Also, the chinese model of the K702, the one I've got, is super comfortable, even compared to the X2. It's super light and the clamp is just perfect (at least for my head).

Prefer open. Closed I find make the music sound very closed in. I prefer more airy I guess.

>Comfort level
High comfort the better, I wear them for long periods of time.

>Preferred tonal balance
An unbiased sound would be nice, more or less flat. The HD408s I find are bass heavy, I hate niggerbass. Id prefer a clearer top end.

>Preferred music
Classic rock, progressive rock/metal and variations. Most of my music doesn't have much dynamic range.

Sennheiser HD408, NigerBeats by Dray (sucked ass), Sony MDR on ear (very bassy as well ugh) and various other cheap headphones.

Thanks in advance

I just got the HE-400i. Been listening to them for a few hours and I have to say, people's reviews about them online are really inaccurate. Everyone's like wow they're so airy and neutral and detailed! Not that I hate subjective reviews, I guess around this price point the average user won't have listened to enough headphones to make good ones. I'll give my impressions here because there's a sale right now.

First off they're actually quite dark. Not LCD2 levels, but it's noticeably darker than something like the HD600 even. I personally hear a weird trough at low-mid treble. Don't get them if you dislike recessed highs.
Something people are right about though is the soundstage. It's really tiny, possibly the smallest or second smallest I've heard. Also don't get these if that bothers you.
Bass is clean and energetic but there isn't a lot of it. You like lots and lots of bass, don't get, etc.
There's an average amount of air, just barely enough to not sound extremely congested.
Detail retrieval and technical power are as you would expect around this price point, good but not amazing. It'll be enough for many though.

If I'm being critical it's because I expected a completely different sound. Their strengths are that they have a nice thickness and body, there's a lot of energy and dynamics, and best of all the sound is not dry. Fucking hate dry thin grainy sounds.

I think I'll keep them for a while. I have the LCD2/3 and the HD600 if anyone REALLY wants comparisons, hopefully not though because I hate /g/ and I don't want to.
>>
>>52158353
I also have them, but in black/red. Pretty decent headphones. I got BB to do a price adjustment and loving them so far.

Now I am looking for something to complete my set of headphones... maybe I'll just get the 7506's and be content.

Grado RS2i

So I like the clarity of sound I get from my RS2i, but getting bored with its severe lack of deep bass, what's similar in sound with a large soundstage but also has impact to go with detail?
