The rest of my shit is all IBM and lenovo bought off ebay. Even my desktop is less than $200 before additional parts. Got two thinkpads with I5.8GB/500HDD for redundancy even that didn't run me over 200.
Considering buying a macbook for pretty. Even then I might buy it used in good condition at $500. The assumption is that if I buy it new it has to last 5 years at LEAST so it was equal to me buying $200 laptops once a year.
first laptop I bought of my own accord was when I was 15, HP Pavillion, AMD A8 and it worked for two years until CPU fan shit the bed.
