Sup /g/, the other night I was browsing the web, went downstairs and when I came back my PC was off. Checked fuses and tried to start it, but it won't turn on. The light on the mobo is still on so I'm ruling out MOBO and cpu attempts to spin for a second.

Just got a new PSU and plugged everything back in, same problem. Ram is new and I don't think it's HDD failure because I've had harddrives fail before and the PC would still turn on to a black screen.

What else can I try to do?
>>
Wow, I had the same problem, it looks like it's.....

Like someone mentioned, I'd take out the GPU and use whatever your mobo is using to see if you get a start up splash screen.
After that, since we already ruled out PSU, I would try either the HDD or mobo next. I've had an issue where it sounds similar to you, but my motherboard ended up getting fried somehow. I swapped out the mobo and it was fine.

Sounds like its not detecting it then. Try reseating the cables on both the motherboard and back of the hard drive, they can be really flimsy.

>>
>>52149339

This is probably the culprit. Windows is trying to load the previous ATI driver which the Nvidia card doesn't like, only option is to remove it first.

Does your motherboard have an integrated display output that you could use temporarily to boot up and remove the old drivers?

>>52149769

when you installed windows was your motherboard set to AHCI mode? Is it still set to AHCI mode? make sure the setting is appropriate to when OS was installed. If unsure try toggling different modes.

I would check this setting. search for sata/hdd mode or something similar. there should be multiple modes. set it to AHCI if on IDE, or set to IDE if on AHCI. if all modes fail, set it back to the original value before u changed it.

If this setting is incorrect it would definitely boot loop as youre describing.

This is what we are interested in, whatever it says here when it resets is the culprit driver. If its GPU related then it confirms that the old cards drivers that need removing.

Can you use the motherboards built in graphics output just to see if it boots? If you can do that then removing the old drivers will be simple.

Do I have any other options at this point besides obtaining another copy of Windows 7 and doing a clean USB install? there has to be another way to remove the culprit.
>>
>>52150475
To be sure it isn't being triggered by the new card can you switch to on-board video for now?
>>
>>52150475
Hirens boot cd has lots of automatic windows repair utilities that might be worth a try, and then if you want to recover files from the hard drive it even has a mini windows xp environment so you can copy files over if you don't have another pc to connect the hard drive to.
>>
>>52150509

>>
>>52150719
Ok so we know its probably not hardware then. Personally I would start looking into using hirens boot cd to repair windows at this point.

You can burn it to a USB key too and youtube is full of tutorials, if you just want your files then boot into the mini windows xp mode and access everything from there.
>>
>>52150774

>GPU is a synonim for graphics card hurr

If the whole graphics card is the "GPU", then the whole rest of the PC is the CPU? Think about it for a moment. This is "a USB stick is just a USB hurr"-tier idiocy.
>>
>>52150810
Yes with hirens boot cd, navigate to the offending file with the mini xp mode and delete it. But it will probably just fail on a different file next from the forum threads I've been reading.
>>
>>52148373
Then your graphics card is broken and causes an overload/short/whatever, the PSU detects it and won't turn on for safety reasons. I had an old broken graphics card which, if sitting in the AGP slot, would cause the computer not turn on at all, as per the above.
>>
>>52150842
So lay down the final solutions for me friend, regardless of how brutal they may be.
>>
>>52150894
Get files off of hard drive (if needed), then repair or reinstall windows.
>>
>>52149946
This is a bullshit myth. First, that AGP driver won't ever be loaded if there's no AGP card (they were popular 1998-2006). Second, it used to be the last driver to load, and its name displayed meant it has loaded successfully, the OS was just doing different things after which were not showed any info about onscreen.
>>
>>52147842

>>
>>52150335
>trouble shooting
You mean literally take a rifle and try to shoot some trouble?

Things spelt apart have a literal meaning. For a metaphorical/figurative meaning, they are spelt together (as in "troubleshooting") or hyphenated. It's a disease of these times for more and more idiots not to have a clue about all this and just spell everything apart (especially the correct use of hyphenation seems to be dying out amongst the idiots).
>>
>>52150810
You are being duped by clueless anons believing in myths. See>>52150954. It clearly says "Loaded". If the file's name is displayed, it means it loaded successfully. If it's the last driver to load, then the OS is doing different things which aren't referred to directly onscreen anymore. Just let it sit for a while and maybe it will load to desktop.
>>
>>52150842
>and delete it
It's not safe to do it this way. Use the latest version of Autoruns and load the problematic Windows installation to edit its startup items. Though, I believe the file doesn't cause problems at all if its name was displayed, OP just didn't let it sit long enough to load to desktop. I may take quite a while (10 minutes or so, depending on how screwed-up the system is).
>>
>>52151047
>>52151071
That's the thing guys, no matter what option I choose in the safe menu, PC immediately reboots. if I launch with Windows repair, it loads that then immediately reboots. This thing can not get windows to start.
>>
>>52151102
Please reiterate what parts are connected to the motherboard now and which of these parts have been swapped out from the original PC.

Also, have you tried to use a different power socket/different power strip? Those might be faulty too, and be a source of problems.
>>
>>52151170
I swapped out 8gb ram for 16gb, an ATI card for Nvidia, and a better PSU. Everything is properly plugged in, it's the
Aswrvrt.syst that I keep getting stuck on when booting safemode.
