which 4k tv is everyone buying?
>>
>>52146313
I don't use TVs
I'll buy a good 24 in. 4K monitor when the prices are better though
>>
>>52146313
Can't you think for yourself and buy what you like? Do you need to buy what others buy? Please leave 4chan forever, fucking normal person.
>>
>>52146313
Just make sure it isn't curved.

That shit is retarded.
>>
Why do people say 4k? It's 2160p.
>>
>>52146966
my autism is also butt mad about this, but some anon explained it is 4x the area of a HD
>>
Bought a 43" Sceptre (literally no-name brand) for like $250 a month ago. It works, has no bullshit smart TV features, and looks great (precious little 4K content available though).
>>
>>52147163
>Sceptre
are their enclosures still really cheap feeling plastic crap? I used to have an old 16:10 monitor from them, the panel was great, not so much the stand or bezel.
>>
>>52146966
Because they switched the marketing to say the number of pixels instead of the number of lines.
>>
Just bought LG 49UF770.

Good picture and cool remote but the smart tv thing in it is complete dogshit.
>>
>>52147019
Basic math should've told you that. It's twice the size of 1920x1980, so 4x the number of pixels.
>>52147521
What? There are 8294400 pixels in a 2160p screen. Explain to me how 4k is relevant to that.

Whats with the curved screen thing? Is it any good?
>>
>>52148040
it's almost 4000 pixels wide? I dunno
>>
none

everyone is a concept

concepts do not buy at unison

what are you an NSA shill with some sparetime
>>
>>52146313
Waiting for those cheap 4k OLED TVs LG is promising will happen in a few years when the manufacturing process gets cheaper.
>>
TVs take up too much space these days. Everything is 40+"

I got a projector and love it. Just need to paint my wall now because it's a shitty light green color that fucks up the picture quality. Thinking of either black or a dark grey.
>>
>>52148071
that is why it's called 4k. How is this not obvious though?

>four-kay
>twenty-one-sixty-pee

Not exactly hard to figure this one out.
>>
>>52148010
I got a 55" LG and I love it so far.

I had a 40" led samsung I gave to my nephew. I basically gave up 3d for 4k and 15 more inches.
>>
>>52148040
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4K_resolution

>The name "4K resolution" refers to a horizontal resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels. The use of width to characterize the overall resolution marks a switch from previous television standards such as 480i and 1080p, which categorize media according to its vertical dimension. Using that same convention, 4K UHD would be named 2160p.[4]
>>
>>52148078
This, OLED is the next thing worth buying, 4k isn't worth it yet alone.
>>
>>52148071
>>52148103
Why would people switch from vertical to horizontal? Should we rename 1080p to 2k as well?
>>
>>52148091
3d is shit, curved is shit, and LG's webos thing is shit too. Just need a good picture. I'm surprised by just how bad the webos thing was is all. It lags and stutters in the fucking menus and is so heavily curated nobody is bothering to write apps for it.
>>
>>52148103
Are you one of those people who insists on calling 1000 bytes a kilobyte instead of the industry standard, 1024? Though even that is more understandable, because it's technically correct. 4k is just changing how things are labeled because people are idiots.
>>
>>52148054
Me and my mother kept getting and returning tvs. First one we got was the curve. Actually watched the movie "Black Bird" and actually was nice. I would personally get one myself. The downer is that ours had a fucked up O.S. that kept glitching and there is a vertical lines of reflection on the glossy curved screen so turn of all lights if you want to watch normally.

We took it back and got a 70" 4k Sony instead.

But the tv wasn't bad minus the bullshit os.
>>
What do you guys think of LG's EF9500 line? 4K flat screen OLED. Assuming I win the panel lottery, how's the input latency for gaming?
>>
>>52148130
Well according to wiki it's because film standard uses horizontal. I guess to keep it more synced up like how everything went from 4:3 to 16:9
>>
>>52148130
2K is 2048x1080
FHD is 1920x1080
4K is officially 4096x2160
the 4K we see on TVs and monitors is actually UHD, 3840x2160
>>
>>52148183
Nah just linking to stuff. I'm not gonna claim calling it 4k is actually good or not.
>>
>>52148225
DCI 4k and UHD is how I refer to them

>4K
is their even a decent amount of 4K content out yet or is it just a meme tv
>>
>>52146313
The Vizio D series that is $800. Probably has a shit panel but 4K is 4K, the average consumer doesn't care.
>>
>>52146313
>>52146313

None, we're waiting for OLED to get the kinks sorted out and maybe drop in price a bit
>>
>>52146966
2160p is also a terrible 'name' to give it.
>2560x1080
>1920x1080
>Both technically 1080p but one is wider
See, terrible.

I'm still using my 1920x1080 Panasonic plasma and see no reason at all to downgrade to the newbuzzmeme.
>>
>>52148993
I don't even get any HD channels outside of antenna because U-verse in 2015(almost 16) still charges you extra "HD technology fees" just to get channels you already pay for in HD(even the locals hence why I have the antenna). It's a whole bunch of bullshit. I think other providers do similar shit as well. I just hope that if 4k channels did come they would finally stop that shit but I highly doubt it at this point.
>>
>>52148993

There's hardly any content, and if there is, is mostly streamed videos with a drop of quality due to conversion, Netflix has some series in 4k, they do looks better than 1080.
If you want it for gayming you are going to have to invest in a powerful pc to get decent FPS, but going from 1080 to 4k in gaming is like night and day.
>>
why dont we measure it all in PPI and end the retard meaningless names?
>>52149266
whats the game?
>>
>>52149044
>plasma
Why would you ever use a plasma screen as a monitor?
>>
>>52149413
>Monitor

>which 4k tv is everyone buying?
>tv
>Monitor

I wouldn't use a plasma as a monitor, I also wouldn't use a giant fucking tv as a monitor, either.

Black Desert Online
>>
>>52149402
>why dont we measure it all in PPI and end the retard meaningless names?
because that makes it easy for consumers to know when they're buying shit
>>
>>52146325
I can't even find 1440p 24" monitors.
>>
>>52149575
Because 2560x1440 only caught on for a couple months before passing GO and collecting the 4x 1920x1080 panels.
>>
>>52149600
I think I'd rather have 1440p at the distance I like to keep my 24" monitors at. 4k is excessive without moving them closer.
>>
>4k tv
>movies and television aren't even close to ditching 1080p yet

Save your dosh and get a 4k monitor instead, where it'll actually be useful
>>
>>52149539
i'm going to guess this game was released in 2013 when chromatic aberration was used in all video game promo art for no reason at all.
>>
>>52149864

It has a cinematic mode so you can take pictures, you can change the strength of the filters that is why it looks like that.
