No idea where that coupon code is from, but I'll take it. Guess I'm starting this build with a CPU.
>>
im buying the 4690k next week as soon as they go on sale again

if your going to spend 170$ might as well buy the overclock-able version and have a solid cpu for 5+ years
>>
>wanting to buy Housefireswell

just get a 14nm processor you cheapskates

Enjoy getting scammed lel
>>
>>52145286
I've bought like 10 things in the past couple months from there and it's fine, even returned a monitor. /g/ is just now discovering it.
>>
>>52145369
i just ordered a xfx 380x for 170 bucks from there

lets see what happens
>>
>>52145396
What state are you in and who fulfilled the order. Usually if it's shipped intrastate it takes 1 day or overnight. Most of my stuff was from OnTrac and Fedex.
>>
>>52145508
no idea it says "Fulfilled by Jet Trusted Retail Partner..."

im in the midwest so everywhere is pretty close i just ordered it yesterday lets see what happens, they havent sent me any shipping info yet tho
>>
>>52145574
I'm in California and the farthest item I got was a Z97 Pro4 for $85 from Indiana and took 6 days. It was trusted retailer too. They're pretty good about sending shipping info once it processes though and their 'jethead' customer service isn't bad either. They've even contacted retailers for me for eta on restock of sold out stuff.

im happy with my 6600k
>>

Or IntelBurnTest. Basically the same thing, but I've found it runs higher. My 2500k would do 91c on the stock cooler with 22c ambients.
>>

I would be too.

You've been spamming this in every thread, are you that assblasted niggerposter?

Yeah, that 25% difference at best. When you can buy 4 2cpu servers for the price of one haswell.
>>
>>52146629
I meant under normal use. I'm not going to be running linpack on a gaming machine.

Got an i5 4670 and a z87 board, should I upgrade to a 4690k (or i7 4770k/4790k) while I still can?
>>
>>52147950
4690K isn't going anywhere and has a high price at the moment. If you want to upgrade for cheap you'll be looking at ~320 for cpu and mobo. You can find 4690K's on ebay for 200-215.
>>
>>52148028
>You can find 4690K's on ebay for 200-215.
I'm currently looking at a brand new one for under €240. Not planning to get a new motherboard, else I'd just go for a z170, 6600k and new RAM, for twice the money and marginally better performance.
>>
>>52148028
>used 4690k
>15$ under msrp

give it up goy there is a clear shortage, wouldnt be surprised if intel is slowly cutting production already
>>
>>52148212
That's how much it goes for in usd (260). I wouldn't upgrade unless you intend to OC otherwise it's only 330pts different on passmark. I have a 4690 since I didn't care about overclocking.
>>
>>52148386
>I wouldn't upgrade unless you intend to OC
How else am I gonna keep up with new games if I don't want to build an entirely new PC?
>>

>all these cucks "upgrading" to haswell
>mfw you can buy a 24 thread westmere server for less than the price of some of these cpus

Got to say, this is some top tier viral marketing from intel.
>>
You don't need anything more than nehalem for gaming, or sandy bridge for crossfire/SLI. If you're buying skylake or haswell when you already have a first or second gen i7 you're wasting your money. And if you do more than gaming just get some X5650s. If you need more than you shouldn't be paying for it yourself.
>>
>>52148852
Fuck you
>>
>>52148852

I upgraded from an i7 950 to 6600k. I believe it was worth it as my motherboard had issues with SSD's and USB. The CPU performance, while not life changing, is definitely better. Especially after overclocking.

probably so it appears in search queriea for i5. their labelling is kind of lazy but who cares.

Should I /g/?
Its the last piece I need for my build too.
>>
>>52149302
the site is good I can vouch for it.
>>
>>52148966

Purely placebo for gaming. Something like a first gen i7-940 at around 4Ghz won't even come close to bottlenecking a 980ti, and wouldn't bottleneck multiple 980tis if it wasn't for the X58 chipsets pci-e limitations, where sandy bridge is adequate.

Sure, they may be some extremely poorly optimized games that are CPU intensive, but newer games like TW3 average only around 10% on my i7-920 build, and spike around 20-30%. With dx12, there is going to be even less dependence on the CPU for gaming.

I also have a broadwell workstation, built it primarily for vt-d. I got it heavily discounted through my work. I don't notice a difference from web browsing or other simple tasks. I don't game on it though. If I had to pay retail I would have just bought an AMD for the features since I don't need the performance.
